Heaven Awaits

Liner Notes
I'm a big fan of Mark Rylance's work, especially his Flop character in Bing. One of his lesser known roles is in Bridge of Spies. A largely unremarkable film, by an unknown director, that I expect not many have seen. I've only seen it once. I can't remember much about it, I think it had a bridge in it.
Well, anyway, this song is inspired by Bing.
Lyrics
Open your eyes as you cling to the sides Heaven awaits
Ooooooh
Don’t be alarmed at the rats on the stakes Heaven awaits
Ooooooh
Once a time when I get old Figure out what I’ve been told Just because you’re feeling rich Doesn’t mean you can be a bitch
On the bridge of all those lies I’ve been told that you’re a spy And I saw the film just once But it’s left memories And left me cold
Loosen your grip as your feet start to slip Heaven awaits
Ooooooh
Don’t be ashamed you won’t feel any pain Heaven awaits
Ooooooh
Once a upon an endless time Eternity tricks your mind Just because you live in hope It won’t loosen around your throat
On the bridge of all those lies I’ve been told that you’re a spy And I saw the film just once But it’s left memories And left me
On the bridge of all those lies I’ve been told that you’re a spy And I saw the film just once But it’s left memories And left me cold

Now, I await a complete Beatles hear-alike album from you! This is very well done. Cool melodies and chords changes. The trumpet sounds good and fits in very well. I get the Moody Blues reference someone else wrote; there's a bit of John Lodge within your voice. Very soothing!
This is bouncy. For sure. I like the bass in your voice, which is great. I also appreciate the backing track. Great horns.
What a treat!! This song checks all the boxes! The music/melody is fantastic. I love the horns!! The lyrics are so unique and excellent and would indeed make a great movie song!!! I love your vocals...I hear some moody blues in there, I think!! Seriously enjoyable tune and wonderful performance!!
Ooh...sweet and bouncy. I love how you jump right into it. This is my cup of tea, for sure, so melodic and catchy and warm and pretty. Nice changes, too
Trumpet sounds great in a kind of gentle lyrical role rather than the usual fanfare stuff. Nice effect where there is just voice and piano unaccompanied. gives loads of space and great drama. and what a great hook line "on the bridge of all those lies".
I do love your use of horns here. and your refrain is cool too. I vaguely remember the Bridge of Spies, but other than Tom Hanks, i dont recall much. i do love the refrain. very catchy and smooth vocals.. well done!
Cool chords! I love the trumpet (may be biased there 🙃) Enjoyed listening to this
This is a lot of fun. Really positive and upbeat. I don't know who Bing is, but it's not keeping me from enjoying this song. Nice work. Love the sound of it.
The film it conjures up for me is Chariots of Fire - because one of the riffs makes me feel like the music in that movie. There’s this whole sense of the way memory works for films but also for music and real life and books. Would be a great for this to be the music for closing credits of a movie like The Fabelmans about someone becoming a director.
