End of Days
Liner Notes
Lyrics
Verse One:
Tick . . . tock . . . the pendulum sways Silent witness to the end of days Stop the clock’s moving hands And suddenly the sun expands
Chorus:
No sun will rise No moon will shine The stars are dark and fading There is no past No yesterday The end of days is waiting
Verse Two:
Galaxies whisper long goodbyes Spirals collapse in empty skies All creation is destroyed Lost into a swirling void
[repeat chorus]
Bridge (call and response):
Time is a circle, time is a lie (Time’s a shadow passing by) Time is a castle, built on the sand (Time’s too brief to understand) There is no past, there’s no tomorrow (All is lost in endless sorrow)
[repeat chorus]
Outro:
The end of days Of time and space
[repeat and fade]

I like this a lot. I initially read the first verse and chorus of the ending of days of just one person and thought it was brilliant - and then suddenly into the end of the universe. Very well crafted and written. #tit4tat
Brooding and moody and dark, just how I like it. Very angsty and existential! Reminds me of the movie A Ghost Story.
A very pretty and lush lyric, can be read like a poem. I especially liked the 2nd verse and the passing of eons of time.
The mark of a great set of words (like this one) is that it could work in different genres. This could be minor-key folk, heavy metal, spoken word. The rhymes and meter are super sharp and ready for music. And by the way, @cjk, if @motorcitymusicman adds you as a collab, that allows you to add a demo even after Feb 28. I did that for a song yesterday.
Love it. If no one puts music to it, can I steal it? I don't think I can come up with something with only a day left, but such intriguing lyrics shouldn't just vanish.
I like these lyrics a lot. The bridge is my favorite part. I can imagine this song going in many directions musically: something dirge-like, proggy, or perhaps in a folk-style? So much possibility!
Ooh,as a keen amateur physics junkie, I really got all the references here. Have you been following all the latest "time is an illusion" theories? The repercussions if time is proved not to be a fundamental element in Einstein's Space-Time, but rather a side effect of quantum processes, will be earth shattering.
Astronomical depth in those lyrics ! Keep turning and fade at the end of the song is so in tune with the topic ! It is striking to see how no deploration lie in the words. The music can turn this in a desparate or contemplative mood. Interesting construction : verse 1 on time, verse 2 on space and last line "Of time and space " ! Also nice move on the round movement in verse 2 (swirling, Spirals) medling with time on the bridge...
