Skirmish: 'I Risked it All' (@ragbag)

Liner Notes

#skirmish #retro #piano #girlwithpiano ugh I went over an hour but tried my darndest. went with the "risking it all" direction I think this song has potential maybe? will continue to toy with this

Lyrics

I’ve spent 35 years Rotating round the sun I’ve played it safe so far Trying to please nearly everyone

Looking in the mirror What do I have to show? Hey mama, “Where did the time go”

Will I Ever Be A One Hit Wonder? Or are my chances out the door? I would rather be a one hit wonder Then nothing at all

I should be a bit wiser But I’m only feeling late No more analyzing Got to get out of my own way

Got one good song in my pocket And I’m trying not to stall Give my resignation And risk it all

Will I Ever Be A One Hit Wonder? Or are my chances out the door? I would rather be a one hit wonder Then nothing at all

I really like the cool riff on the piano in the chorus, and the piano playing throughout is really great. The lyrics are super relatable, and the chorus sticks with you!

I think you'll be (and are) more than a one hit wonder! Keep sharing...you definitely are so talented!

Hey! Another acoustic piano!!! Great! You know what I do to record my voice louder? I slide my phone on my chest in my T-shirt 😆😆😆 Well, you were mate but so was I… 😊 Playing quite complex piano’s le singing at the same time is NOT EASY……

This is like an outtake of Carole King's "Tapestry" album. I wish you well in the pursuit of that one hit wonder.

One hit wonders can, indeed, set you up for life. I remember reading an interview with the guy from Mungo Jerry who wrote "In the Summertime" - He has lived off that one song for the rest of his life.

I love the character of the piano in this. Incredibly memorable chorus. It has a hint of Broadway to it. I like the instrumental bridge a lot!

"I would rather be a one hit wonder Than nothing at all" is such a great hook. Your dynamic performance really sells the great lyric. Definite potential! I'm glad you took the time to share it! We all hope to hit it big in something, in music or life, so very relatable.

I really like the conviction of rather being a one hit wonder, it’s so true! The piano comping and phrasing you use to convey the lyrics is both solid and satisfying.

Super piano playing! Love the rhyming of wiser/ analysing. Great lyrics throughout. Will I Ever Be A One Hit Wonder is really hooky and memorable. This is a great song - worth taking the time - I'll not tell anyone you were late lol. It's an artificial and very flexible deadline really - I'll probably do mine tomorrow. lol. :-)
