Skirmish: 'I Risked it All' (@ragbag)Liner Notes
#lyricsonly #needscollab #risk I rolled out of bed and looked at my phone and saw the prompt for the ongoing skirmish that was nearly ending. A picture jumped into my head of situations I've watched play out, so I grabbed a cup of coffee and started writing. Almost an hour late, but written within an hour from when I started. Thanks @ragbag for the prompt.
Lyrics
Grandpa's on a ladder Taking quite a risk. He's only 80 plus years old With two titanium hips. It's a risky business Daring to get old, People always telling you Not to be so bold.
Auntie's climbed up on the roof, She's only 92, She's always done it all herself So whataya gonna do. It's a risky business, But she's made it this far Ignoring her kids' warnings "Who do they think they are?"
They'll risk it all They do it every day, They risk it all, Don't care what people say, Life's a risky business We're not here as a tourist, So take a chance and join the dance And live life to the fullest
Nana's moving to Mexico, She's going all alone, "Hasn't she heard, that's so absurd", You hear them cry and moan. But she's going to be who she's always been, Age won't get in the way, Taking risks is who she'll be Until her dying day.
Risk it all, Do it every day, Risk it all, Don't care what people say. Life's a risky business, We're not here as a tourist, So take a chance and join the dance And live life to the fullest. Take a chance and join the dance And live life to the fullest

"We're not here as a tourist" is such a strong lyric. I love the pictures you're painting, and the repeated mantra of "Life's A Risky Business". We risk it all every single day, we might as well do it to the fullest!
I like it a lot! I am always scared by everything. I wouldn't do half of that ! I like the line "it's a risky business. Daring to get old" Reading the lyrics i thought of the song "give it all" by rise against. I think the lyrics could fit the same music more or less.
I love the meaning built into this, and great characters! I think you've really captured how these people don't want to just stop doing something because they're older and they feel capable and they're not done yet. My dad isn't quite this old yet (he's 71), but if he gets there, I KNOW he's not going to let anybody do anything for him.
By the way, I do want to keep writing with you, and actually follow through that on this year! I have someone teaching me about the ways of sync and I'm going to try to get into that. So on that note, if this song doesn't get picked up, I'll write music for it. :) #tit4tat
I really love these lyrics! The stories remind me so much of my dad. Life's a risky business for sure and I agree, life life to the fullest.
A very affirmative piece of writing, the lightness of the tone is really effective for the seriousness of the topic - we're not tourists in this life 😊
It's a risky business, Daring to get old, - beautiful line. Says so much. I really laughed at Grandpa, Auntie and Nanas antics and folks reactions to them. Funny write, really enjoyed it. :-)
I like the use of the scenarios to paint me a picture of each character. It's a great message, especially to anyone who feels like they are past their prime. Never stop doing what you want/love. Nice write! #tit4tat
