We talked about the old times And how things had changed But we were still the same It felt a little like a poker game

Afraid of saying too much Afraid that we’d lose touch Not sure how much to say Trying to keep the anger at bay

We laughed about the past
And the way it used to be
But underneath the words we spoke
There was a quiet uncertainty
