Who Am I to Say

Liner Notes
Another hotel room iPad recording. The phrase "who am I to say" floated into my consciousness this morning, and a melody attached itself before I could ask myself, "Say what, exactly?" This should be a piano song, but, as I'm away from home, I'm limited to guitar.
Lyrics
Who Am I to Say ©️2025 - words and music by Sharon Stepler
Who am I to say Whether you should stick around or walk away Don't look so surprised I see it in your eyes More and more each day
Who am I to say When your heart is halfway down the highway I've known for a while Forever's not your style You never planned to stay
I guess we were a mismatch from the start somehow You were Mr. Right, but I was Ms. Right Now
Who am I to say I'm the fool who let you steal my heart away The fool who'll miss you each and every day What will I do Why do I love you Who am I to say

The “Miss Right Now” phrase is so appropriate! I so enjoy your singing.
The jaunty feel of the song is such a contrast to the words. Lovely melody line and I always like the IV-iv progression.
"You were Mr. Right, but I was Ms. Right Now" is a brilliant line. Classic lovesong.
