Don't Want To Know (If She's Been Cheating)

Started this way back on the 4th of February, but didn't like the subject matter (Done much better by the Bottle Rockets with a similar title) but ran across it tonight, said FAWM it! and added a bridge. Thinking of doing a project of something like "A Marriage in 12 parts" which idea is completely stolen from RC's song "A Marriage in Seven Parts". (I still miss Randy Christopher.) But I'll probably just forget about this one.

Lyrics

I don't want to be the last man knowing Where the hell my wife's been going to Going with you I don't want the whole town talking And I don't care what's been going down Out on the town

But I don't want to know if she's been cheating I don't want to know what she's up to I don't want the world to know What we're going through

I'm so tired of always fighting So tired of trying to get it right All day and night

I'm so tired of feeling lonely So tired of feeling I've been used Feeling abused

But I don't want to know if she's been cheating I don't want to know what she's up to I don't want the world to know What we're going through

And if you're here to rub it in You better stop before you begin I don't know what you're trying to do But I'll put an end to you

But I don't want to know if she's been cheating I don't want to know what she's up to I don't want the world to know What we're going through

This is good - from a female perspective it seems a bit too controlling in the first verse though. Just because you're married, doesn't mean you own her so if it was tweaked to perhaps feeling like your trust is being tested, you're hearing rumours from people while still trying to give her the benefit of doubt ...

but ... its your song after all and the chorus, honestly it's great. I like how you're torn between I dont wanna know, but I don't want the world to know either - it's a nice pain point of angst

The line "But I'll put an end to you" opens for different interpretations, both of which sends different messages about the protagonist in the story. Interesting. A good song!

You might have FAWMed this, but it's really strong. Love the chords you put to this, and it's some great storytelling.
