Nostalgia: our most toxic impulse. "The good old days weren't always good, and tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems."

Lyrics

In the sunlight Of a distant Saturday Take aim before you loose the golden arrow

Lazy spirals In their arced trajectories Duck behind the cinder block wall by the back door

Charlie turns the TV to channel 3 Bobson Dugnutt’s up to bat

Search the carpet For the missing ninja star Tan hiding in the flecks of orange in green

Charlie turns the TV to channel 3 Glass Joe tumbles to the mat

Riding ten speeds Down the hill by the junior high Try not to hit the brakes before the bottom

Call the house phone Making plans for Saturday Counting down the minutes feel like hours

Ha ha! Enjoyed the song and agree with the sentiment, though I wonder how much the song is really indulging in nostalgia like you said not to do 😄

@heather

Oh I love that first verse! And the verses that follow paint such intense images of a specific time, but we are also aware that there must have been other, less-good moments (no parents in these scenes…). The cigar box guitar is very fun. I hope you’re right that tomorrow isn’t as bad as it seems!
