Liner Notes
I saw these lyrics from Patty this morning and just had to pick up on them .As this is my last day with time to do anything this FAWM, I had to knock it out quickly, but I'm pleased with how it turned out . I had fun with this ! I could also relate to the whole basis of the song as I've spent much of my life in Record shops and am glad there is a bit of a resurgence . #pop #rock #collab
Patty says: It's so much fun to hear Alan's take on these lyrics. And for him to be able to do it so quickly...that's extra amazing! I love the pop/rock treatment and the whole vibe of this. Thank you, Alan! 😀
Lyrics
V1 Tucked in the wall down an alley way In a part of town gone to seed The sign went missing years ago You can still smell a hint of weed V2 The store takes you back to that time in the past When the music reached into your soul The songs that hit you right in the heart Joni Mitchell to Rock ‘n Roll Ch Welcome to Vintage Vinyl The records you never outgrew They’re alive at Vintage Vinyl The songs that feel most like you Your music’s all here at Vintage Vinyl The first time you heard it, you knew V3 Back in the day, Milo ran the place He was friends with Roberta and Glen My girl and I hung out there a lot It was cool when a star dropped in V4 Some of the albums cost thousands today Makes me wish I’d saved all of mine Or bought some extras and stashed them away I’d be rich after all this time Ch Welcome to Vintage Vinyl The records you never outgrew They’re alive at Vintage Vinyl The songs that feel most like you Your music’s all here at Vintage Vinyl The first time you heard it, you knew Br Don’t get me wrong I love modern music The new songs I hear all around me But the ones that stay with me Are the ones from the 60’s From that hole in the wall down an alley Ch Welcome to Vintage Vinyl The records you never outgrew They’re alive at Vintage Vinyl The songs that feel most like you Your music’s all here at Vintage Vinyl The first time you heard it, you knew Welcome to Vintage Vinyl The records you never outgrew

Feeling sadness. Maybe it's the end of FAWM 2025. To me, FAWM feels like your Vintage Vinyl place. I don't want to let go.
The first record I ever bought was California Dreaming - just the 45. I bought it with money I made returning soda bottles for deposit. The little variety store on 71st Street in the South Side of Chicago catered to the local kids and sold comics, 45's, school supplies and junk food. The store only carried the top 40 hits, so it wasn't like the large record stores that were more like museums. Those were places I'd live in later as a young adult, when I finally had money to spend.
My parents had this record player they bought in the 50's that perched on these spindly legs. As a kid, I'd play the few 45's I owned over and over, lying on my back underneath the player, watching the glowing tubes and feeling their warmth, and their smell.
Very beautiful song and collaboration. Wonderful lyrics with attention to detail and nostalgic feel, beautifully connected music. Wonderful singing and playing. Instantly likable. Beautiful structure. Everything is a treat to listen to ✨️
Love this - it sounds great and the chorus perfectly reflects the feeling of the lyrics. I thought wow, this place sounds really cool I wonder where it is and then found out it's not real, but the lyrics really bring it to life and have such great detail that helps shape the whole vibe. Digging the instrumental interludes, and did I mention that catchy chorus? It's got its hooks right in me!
We have a place like that here called Darkside Records. There are always people in there browsing through the albums and equipment. I much prefer the sounds that started on records. This is a fun and lighthearted rendition. I like the mood of your music and vocals. Nice collab!
This is a really fun, nostalgic set of lyrics and excellent treatment of them in a pleasant pop tune. Great collab.
Love the chord progression and melody! Well done!!! :) The guitarwork and harmonies are awesome! :)
Great treatment of these heartwarming lyrics Alan. Such a great write with so many relatable and nostalgic lines. The melody and especially you vocal feels very authentic to the subject matter. Hope this is one I can hear live at some point? What a fabulous collaboration both
Wow-such a different treatment from another version with the same lyrics. Much more "poppy" but gives me a Jackson Browne feeling. Enjoyed this a lot.
