It isn't hard to talk politics

Liner Notes

#awesome The demo above is just an instrumental the lyrics vox version is: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/bk3xm90096baos0248ja5/politics-again.mp3?rlkey=11aac4hq3wz5kjhmyeakt0iap&dl=0

Since it is quite undeveloped, but I enjoyed listening to it myself - so there it is.

By the way I feel quite pleased with myself. I feared I wouldn't get something "done". I haven't managed even this for --- years

Personally dislike that dismissive word "cliche" but grasped it at the moment.

Lyrics

many times he has said put your heart where your heart is not where your heart was and other cliches -- of

Oh - the clarion call of practicalities and the other mantras things that must must not be

From those stubborn, cosy places where each wears same faces and rarely disagree

Oh - we must persist and throw off hard boiled ways straddling both spaces - making use of ends and means

From those stubborn places where ... each wear same faces

Put your heart where your heart is not where your heart was and other cliches of ...

Oh - those practicalities you said grow a backbone but that is also self deceit

Put your heart where your heart is feels like the opposite of a cliche. Just an obvious truth and an invitation to try harder at love. The first time through I heard Put your hardware where your heart is, and imagined it was about making music because you love it.

Oh, I miss those days in the early 90s where that 'is it a demo or not' sound led to so much directness in the delivery. After the instrumental version I had to listen to the lyrics version and your voice sits perfectly with those dual guitars. I'm a big fan of a title that makes sense of an allegorical lyric. This is the spirit of FAWM!

Listening to the vocal recording: the instrumentation and song is a lot heavier than the FAWM version. Vox, I get lost in mine too! I get the light-hearted (not at root) railing at the cliches, so much is self-deceit but we all need to lvie woth ourselves, I guess!

I like the crunchiness of the guitar sound (is this a distorted acoustic?) and it’s fun to hear you not taking the vocal recording part too seriously. “Put your heart where your heart is and not where your heart was” is an intriguing line, there’s a lot wound up in here.

listening to it yourself is always the best bit - digging in the ruins. this is nicely raw - a digital lo-fi post-bedroom sound - the vocal version is infinitely greater than the instrumental (which is great too, but the human voice is the glue here). lots of good treasures - the power chords a moment to joke in reflection, but seriousness in the core of it - good work getting something out - hopefully a spark to light the fire.

Oh, awesome! It's been a long time, but I recognize you: there's definitely your signature in your sound. The distorded guitar slides are really nice, and I love the "harmonics tail" in the strumming. Strong lyrics with a strong theme. Now listening to the voice version, so good! Why didn't you post it here directly? It was great to hear you again! 🙂
