A Chance of Snow
by @paulmilne
Liner Notes
This is a bit of a cheat as I wrote the lyrics in January. I wrote it while thinking about "I Want To Sing You A Love Song" by Loggins and Messina. But I haven't come up with an original melody or arrangement for it yet.
This is definitely a romanticised view of winter so apologies to those who've suffered real hardship this year...
Lyrics
There's a change in the air tonight We're in bed and you hold me tight And silence falls Outside it calls
The robin sang about it all day So we knew it was on its way You could smell it there Hanging in the air
(Music)
Under the moonless sky we stand We feel the flakes fall in our hands And on our faces They leave their traces
In the dark we cling and sway We dance our troubles all away You can feel them go Under falling snow
Chorus: They said there's a chance of snow They said winter winds would start to blow From Northern lands into these parts And carry beauty to our hearts
(Instrumental bridge)
Morning comes and it snowed all night There's a dog to feed and a fire to light But in our hearts There's a secret spark
Eyes meet when I glance at you And I know that you feel it too That chance of snow Our dance in the snow
Chorus: They said there's a chance of snow They said winter winds would start to blow From Northern lands into these parts And carry beauty to our hearts
No need to apologize. If you live in the far north winter isn't like this but it is in more southerly climes.
Lovely writing. The snow feels like a welcomed friend.
