Grey Matter Jitterbug

I wrote these lyrics a couple of weeks ago for my songwriting meeting and kind of forgot about them until earlier this week. I wasn't goign to record this for FAWM, and then...well, I did. This is my first take, and I kind of wish this was posting as my 14th song, for reasons that will become obvious. But now I'm going to go record one more thing, despite the operation of heavy machinery 50 yards from my studio door right now.
Lyrics
It’s like I said before I just need to caffeinate some more Make it blacker than a labrador, I’ll go ahead and pour
Please try and understand I haven’t got the time for your demands And I’ve already gone and made my plans, my head is firmly in the sand
No need for tea leaves or scanning the skies To apprehend our imminent demise This toxic juju and bathtub gin Is nothing but the cocktail we’re swimming in
So go ahead and fill my mug Please just hit me with another slug We’ll do that grey matter jitterbug, before collapsing on the rug

Love the poetic wordplay. Snappy bouncy guitar is wonderful and solo section and foot taps is ace. This is how I feel the last couple days and especially the last day of FAWM every year. Caffeinated and creative… and then drop. Collapse. Hahah.
I love the title, and the first stanza is perfect. Heck, the whole lyric is a delight. Nothing but the cocktail we're swimming in, indeed. The string squeak I-give-up ending seems exactly like part of the song.
I do want to get up and dance to this, even while my thoughts drift back to sleepily messing up at conversing with my work crush over the break room coffee pot
This lyric is awesome! It has just the right mouthfeel. I drink lattes which are also a similar colour to some labradors I’ve had the pleasure of knowing.
Perfect!!! All I can think of is the long list of people I’d want to share this with. Among the people I tend to hang with, this would have great appeal. I assume Timbo loved it, especially as a tribute to his black lab Java.
So Many Great lines. I really like how your lyrics have a sly and creative turn of phrase most times. Deft fingerpicking as usual which makes this song another winner.
What a very fine guitarist you are, and your lyrics and delivery are just great. Sheesh.... always such a delight to hear your voice and picking...
