Party While It Burns
Liner Notes
This wraps up my most productive FAWM ever — 18 songs?! Sheesh, even I'm impressed.
Yesterday, I got inspired by @mdavisto's last song about Peanut Butter. Something in the music instantly compelled me to create. It took a few tries to find a direction that didn't feel dorky. Then I thought, "Dude, you gotta break out the arp." Definitely the right call — everything clicked after that.
I decided to lean more on guitar than keys this time. I channeled my inner U2/Edge, and the dotted 8th delay really adds excitement and movement.
The lyrics don't necessarily reflect my POV — I'm a bit more optimistic. But I had fun referencing rave culture from the 90's.
Well this is it. What a year! I'm close to giving 100 comments too, see ya there.
Lyrics
Verse 1 Unplugged, turned off the news Then laced up my party shoes I blocked out, all of their noise Followed the call of my voice
Rave on, and break out the PLUR I will dance until I thirst Why not, it’s gonna fall So I will party until they crawl
Chorus I'm gonna party while the world still burns I'm gonna party while the system burns I'm gonna party while the empire burns I'm gonna party while the future burns
Verse 2 How can, I party down As the walls fall to the ground It’s easy, follow my lead Grab a glow stick and join the scene
They say, I’m immature But I think I am quite demure I will, do what I want And keep on going until the dawn

Well contained, warm bassline. Easy listening in the best of ways (i.e. not like "easy listening" as a genre). Nice dense production.
You had me at "dotted 8th note delays". Expansive, late-80s vibes and a very satisfying, high-calorie production, all floating in a warm bath of the sweetest reverb. Nice!
wow, an anthem for our time! music and lyric fit well together- i have no idea what an ARP is, (some sort of synth I guess?) but it all sounds great...
Dude!! Solid track!!! That insistent bass line is so cool!
The arp is always the correct decision. And I love the U2 guitar too - the whole track has a definite U2 vibe. Great little synth riff on the outro!
This is an amazing atmosphere. Floaty and bouncing in my headphones. Super fun vibe that belies the lyric we are hearing and I love that. Balancing the poppy and dark works so well here. It is both in your face and also ethereal. Great balance and a super fun song. you know, while the world burns. ;)
This is a rather 1990s sort of track, isn't it? But we all need to feel upbeat and lighthearted once in a while! Fun!
Absolutely awesome!
