Just A Little More

I said I wouldn't write a song about songwriting this FAWM, but I think waiting until 5 hours left in the challenge, after 70-whatever songs, is probably fine.

Lyrics

I’m going through the chords I know On an instrument I barely play I’m writing another song tonight I’ve been writing songs all day

It’s hard to slow the wheels down When all you want to do is drive It’s hard to turn the lights off When you feel so alive

The waves will swell and break along the shore Just a little more

I am a brave explorer In the caverns of my mind Holding up the lantern To see what I might find

I’ll always want to see behind the door Just a little Always further reachers to explore Just a little more

This is solidly in my comfort zone with those '70s singer-songwriter chords. I know you can whip up a harmony-glazed chorus in a minute, and I love that you kept it to just piano throughout -- it makes the song stronger. In particular, it allows the variations ("just a little more"; "further") to shine out in a way a more busy arrangement wouldn't. Sometimes less is (just a little) more.

This is beautiful and wonderful and oh so insightful.

Just a little more!
