Liner Notes

I wanted to include this one even though @javakat343 eventually preferred the @vince_link version. I enjoy the chord progression in the arpeggiated section.

I learned a lot in the short time that I spent on this. The result may not be all that great, but I enjoyed the half day that I worked on it.

Marie (@javakat343) made an acappella demo of her song and provided instructions that the beginning should have a Radiohead vibe/sound, then it should include an spanish/flamenco style arpeggiated section, then the song should build in intensity, perhaps with Portishead and/or Massive Attack influences.

I didn't know any of these bands, except for Radiohead's Creep. I also don't have a working electric guitar, and I don't play distorted guitar well. So all of the guitar pieces on this demo are MIDI generated.

In her acappella recording, I heard Marie driving the beat ahead of the click, so I tried to follow that with the arrangement. It didn't quite work.

I've learned that, if the song is intense but some things aren't quite perfect and I'm outa time, instead of dumping the project, I should stick a Fairchild compressor app on it and turn all the dials up. It's like putting all the ingredients into a pressure cooker. What you end up with may not be recognizeable, but at least it's (sort of) edible.

Short and sweet , this really captures the intended Radiohead vibe . Lots of good ideas and I think it works well.

Great intensity on this one. Love the rumbly bass sounds that come in on the chorus, really elevating that vocal. Great work, both.

Yes, I like this version very much. Those chords give it an aching feeling that suits the message really well.

I can hear the Radiohead inspiration in this music styling!!! That is very apparent in the melody, as well. Wow, you knocked it out of the park! Thom Yorke would be proud.

Without your version my attempt would be quite different. You know, I stole some chords from your first section of this song. (My very first attempt on getting the right chords to @javakat343 's a capella was completely in major!) So, without your initial work my backing track would not be like that! Thank you for letting me steal something of yours. Thanks for all your help and patience!

Maybe the final track should be rather a collab between us three!
