You'll never know my pain! (Comments first song)
Liner Notes
This song is for the #CommentsFirst challenge (https://write.fawm.org/forums/3025).
Fool that I am, I took ALL the comments and tried to incorporate them! I didn't quite finish with the glockenspiel, but very nearly. The growl at the end IS Vinnie. I recorded him while we were playing a tug-of-war game. That's his play growl. His guardian growl is much more ferocious! So... @youraveragejoe - Monkey almost screaming. @dreamscuba - It's actually a vibraphone, so a posher glockenspiel? @beto - Not my doorbell - it sends Vinnie crazy when it rings, so this is a sample. @esc4p3 - There's only a few bars of 11/4, but they're in there. @beej - The main bass arp that starts the song and reappears a couple of times is REALLY 17 layers of bass! See the screendump. It was the only way I could think to do it without it getting too muddy. @beacon - Vinnie loved the game that led to him being recorded. @ayeahmur - Tuba through the nearest thing I had to a Big Muff pedal was quite interesting! @kayo - I thought that poem would never see the light of day! @mahtowin - Celtic harp and Gaelic lyrics just for you. 😃
Well. There you have it, Now I need to lie down in a darkened cave for at least a week.

How did I miss this challenge? I am in for this next year for sure. Fantastic job of incorporating all the comments. The money is on the money. And 11/4 is just three threes with a couple left over. Nothing special at all. #sarcasmwhatsarcasm
as someone who tries to stick with no more than 4 tracks total, 17 layers of anything, let along bass is unfathomable! well done weaving all these constraints together. it's really quite a journey, interesting to listen to full of little surprises throughout! hope you had fun :)
Vinnie was in fine voice for this, as was his daddy, not to mention all of the other instruments!! I've never listened to a comments first song before, but this was certainly a masterful introduction. Of course, I'd have expected nothing less ;)
So clever. And the perfect ending.
17 layers of bass? You're insane! Why does this chaotic pile of comments lead to such a listenable song? Well done!
Fascinating for me to pick out the variety of prompts. But a good song results, masterful and interesting.
The way you used that screaming monkey sample... I would've never thought of that! Amazing!
And finishing with that glockenspiel, who would have thought…
I laughed at the doorbell solo. Well played!
Never expected you to use the 11/4 time signature, nice 😎
17 bass tracks? Wow I never expected that from you!!! Kudos to how you had so many unique parts.
It was so nice to have Vinnie representation in the song. What a good dog!
I'd never have thought of doubling the flute line with a tuba through a Big Muff pedal. Genius!
Great lyrical use of that box of awkward poetry you unearthed from your early teen years!
Wow! You tried sucessfully useing a celtic harp and I love your Irish lyrics! Impressing!
This is like a whole DragonDreams Castle Slumber Party. Three lifetimes in three minutes. You really are amazing, Paul. I feel like I’m being chased out of FAWM and ringing the bell to try to get back in.
