EP: Obsidian (My serious angry queer EP) I don't really like giving explanations for my songs. I would prefer people find meaning that's important to them.
DEMO COMING: I'm not in a position to record vocals right now.
Lyrics
(Verse 1) Crawling through the haze, face down in the dirt Confusion and panic grip my heart I don't know what happened, I just know I'm hurt Haunted by a vague memory of coming apart
Broken and disfigured, my body lies on the ground I see it from above, as I circle around The line between life and death becomes a blur My eyes flutter, and I begin to stir
(Chorus) Heart stop and body drop You left me to write the end of my story Tore me to shreds and left my soul on top Fuck heaven and hell, I've chosen purgatory I am pain. I am suffering. I am persistence I will be a pestilence upon your existence No more should have to face what I endured Rest assured, I will never rest
(Verse 2) My throat crushed, my lungs burned My voice unrecognizable and twisted A heart wishing for a death well earned But instead of darkness I persisted
Howls hang in the air, echoes of suffering A song fallen like the angels who sung it Memories of a future that never was And a determination that will never quit
(Chorus)
(Bridge) This is not the life I wanted, this was not my dream There's no going back, there's no second chance But this is all I have, so I need to stand up... as hopeless as it might seem Push through the fog, push through this trance
(Chorus)
Comments
The lyrics are powerful, Gwyn, and really deserve the music you've planned. Hope I can circle back to hear the final result.
@bo0m3r31337 Thanks so much! Uh. Well, I'm working on it right now and I'm really bad at defining genres. I'm going pretty heavy on the synth, but at its core it's... I hesitate to say nu metal because that genre is kind of all over the place. Hard rock? I usually gravitate to a kind of synth heavy nu metal/punk sound, but I like experimenting. Hope that gives some kind of idea of what this is before I get the demo done.
Sweeeet lyrics!!
What kind of song do you envision this having?
A perfectly fitting title for a song rich in imagery. Many of the lines are so evocative, like the fallen angels singing and the body on the ground. But there is a motion to match as well, with a powerful contrast between the anguish and the determination in the chorus.
