I'm baaack! This is my third round of FAWM. While that seems significant to me, since I started off thinking I couldn't do it, I know so many people here have a much longer history than me.
I'm slowest at lyrics, so I'm open to collaborating with someone with strengths in that department. I've been lucky in past sessions to accelerate my output by finding inspiring lyrics from other participants. I'm looking forward to continuing past relationships and finding new partners to provide music for. If you're a lyricist and I haven't found you, don't be afraid to reach out. If your words can capture my imagination, there may be a song coming out of it.
I've managed to find some success getting radio play in the UK and I'm looking for more stations that will consider songs from unsigned artists. (I still have trouble referring to myself as a artist.) Anyway, if you know of stations that consider songs from people without label support, let me know. Maybe I'll eventually earn enough to buy a small cup of coffee.
For those who care about technical stuff, I use a UA Volt 476P interface to get sound in and out of my Studio One 7 DAW. My main microphones are both from Røde, an NT1A for vocals and an NT3 for the acoustic guitar.
My main songwriting guitar is a Stonebridge G22CR. My play-out-in-public guitar is a modified 1966 Telecaster. Most of the time when you hear bass, it will be my 1969 Fender Precision bass, purchased brand new with a $440 bank loan. When I want a different bass sound, I have a couple of virtual basses that may come into play during FAWM.
All virtual instruments are input with an Arturia KeyLab 49 Essential. It's better than my ability to play it.
Best wishes to all participants. Have a great FAWM 2025! Let's make some music!

Hi Paul, thanks for your kind comments on Moments . It was an easy write for me and I will play it live for the first time next week .Thanks for listening .
Hi Paul, Thank you for your kind words. Yes it is emotional for me to sing this song but I had to to it. I hope it will be as cathagic for others as it was to me to create this. I will put this up on spotify and other channels, through distro kid. Thank you.
Hi Paul, my wife has been after me to write this song. We lost our best friend. My dog of 17 years. Its taken me a while to be able to sing it, even with a lump in my throught I got through it. Let me know what you think. Have a cleanX next to you. https://write.fawm.org/songs/317097 I getting my voice back with this one and you can hear it in this but I think it gave it a good quality that I was wanting.
Thanks for your kind comment on “It’s Been a While.” You mentioned working for a symphony…both Brian who is my husband and plays the cello on that song and myself play in a symphony orchestra and we regularly attend the professional symphony here in Milwaukee. I agree with you that there is nothing like a cello solo! Really pulls on the heartstrings! Happy last day of FAWMtide!
Hey Paul - thanks for your comments on my track You Are My Life - i completely agree the AI converted vocals are full of artifacts and completely soulless. I fed a one take vocal into it, so i think it could be better if you put the time in, but it was purely an experiment for me. Appreciate your feedback as always
Hi Paul, here is a country song you can play because I included the cords for you. : https://write.fawm.org/songs/316192
Hey Paul, I agree with you so here is a longer version of my Moody Cats just for you. https://write.fawm.org/songs/314776
Thanks, Paul, for your comments. I like Bell & Bone but I’ll have to look at that other one. I’m sorry the piece Moody Cats was not long enough. I’ll look into it.
I've reached the 14 song tonight on one of the skrimishes. And sang with my sore vocal cords. lol but its done. for Fawm for now, i might put a few more up as I create them. Great seeing you again.
Catching up here on comments...thanks much for stopping by "Common" last week! I appreciate your comments on all of the song parts. You asked how often you get to hear flugelhorn in pop...not enough is for sure...but we did just upload another one last night so if you feel so inclined, check out "Everyone Has a First Heartbreak" :)
Thank you for your generous kind words on my song Safe and Warm. To be mentioned in the same company as Lightfoot is an immense honour. I was actually making a concerted effort to channel a few Canadian songwriters on this one. Mr Lightfoot's influence is strong! Cheers!
Hey Paul. Regarding our chat about political songs, I do feel like the source of many people's angst is like the overbearing, not-as-smart-as-he-things rich uncle...the one many feel like they have to apologize for to friends who get exposed to him, which is almost everyone.
Hi Paul
I am humbled you think I should be on the road---would love to be gigging but bills keep me working --full time. music--part rime. Thank you so much for commenting and liking the lyrics/song--lost in unsaid words. Thank you so much for the encouragement.
Sincerely Schantell--Redlady

“From scratch” ha! You made me laugh this morning. Thanks for visiting my song.
Hi Paul. I’m always happy to see your comments. Positive, encouraging, helpful suggestions, often light-hearted…thanks so much taking some of your FAWM-time for feedback on my songs.

Thanks again for even more uplifting comments! 🤩
You are positively on fire my friend!! Impressive amount of songs and collabs! Seems like you're having a really good time!
Thanks for your kind words about my arm. Things are on the mend. I can type and play piano a little.

Hey Paul, sorry about the mix-up on Slow Love Song. Early onset senility! But I hope you liked David's version!

Paul, thanks for your always-encouraging comments...this time regarding White Magic. I greatly appreciate your support and friendship.
Thanks again. This is one of my favorites of ours!
Thanks, that would be great!
Thank you Paul, that means a lot coming from you. I think this will be a two to three man musical. Right now I will be writing for Vencent, and his brother. I might be done in 3 months... or sooner as the muse arrises. I have to read all the letters though. I will keep you informed and would like to get your feed back on what I come up with. Thank you again.
I am working on this song for a Broadway musical Inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s Letters. https://write.fawm.org/songs/309168. I went back to my stage prerformances. I sang both parts and loaded it into the computer and this is what I came up with. let me know what you think of. Be blessed my friend.
Thank you Paul. You’re very kind! I would love to have heard what you did with Paul’s lyrics too.
Thanks, Paul, for your comments about Cate's and my song. I am indeed delighted with her contributions.
Thanks for your comments on @marilyn Have to admit it’s my least fave so far of the 4 I’ve written, but thanks 😊.You have produced a swathe of songs. I’ll come back and listen to some more soon!
Sure Paul!
It's funny you say that. When in high school, I sang with the Louisiana opera company, in school the chior, and had a Rick band. Lol
No worries Paul - They Haunt Me Now was very memorable - you could indeed say - haunting! ;-) Thank you for your kind comments too. :-)
You can give it your spin. Alw as us like to hear different versions of a lyric.
Thank you Paul, I have been playing with "Be the One" for months now and filnally finishished it. Thank you.
You nevre know until you try, I am glad you like the song. :)
Hi, Paul, Nice to see you back here.Thank you for your nice comments on @gwynjones and my collab, Love Isn't Any Fun. He certainly made that song fun for me! I'm glad you enjoyed it and let us know.
Hi Paul, I would be delighted if you want to put my lyrics for “This Present” to music! Looking forward to hearing it! No need to ask for my “approval”. Just go with what moves you! I don’t know how to do the music part (yet).
If you get the opportunity to look at Knights of the Wrong Table (intro) let me know your thoughts. Thanks
That would be fine Paul! I will mark it for you!
Thak you, Paul for stopping by on "Ignorance is Bliss." It was a fun write.
Thanks for checking out the lyrics on "I Don't Wanna Ride This Truck" — wish I hadn’t just lost my voice, so I could demo it sooner!
Thanks for enjoying ”You and Me”. Feel free to jam with it. FYI I keep my virtual groupies and secret fans backstage for the secret kissing, so you are safe ;)
Thanks very much for the comment on "Cat in Gloves." No plans for music for it at this point.
Thank you Paul, this is my first symphony. The nice complement coming from you with your experiance means a lot.
Thanks for your comment on "Why Else Would I Leave You?" — I liked the “all questions” prompt. It was a good challenge.
