Imbolc

by @pippa

Liner Notes

First tune of FAWM 2025, named Imbolc for the day it was composed. This is a very much reduced and straightened up version of a wonderful improvisation that came to me at a farmers market in August 2024.

#instrumental #acousticonetake #girl-with-fiddle #Pippa fiddle tune

Lyrics

Instrumental.

If this isn't nice, I don't know what is :)

So wonderful to hear you play again! How you're able to catch such playing in one take is beyond me. I love the flow here and the twists and turns along the way. The melodic refrains here and there really pull the listener along. Nice!

Nice tune. In some parts it reminds me of traditional Swedish folk music while that's not being of Celtic origin but it still bears a similar feeling.

sounds like spring but with a bit of winter still thus capturing the time of Imbolc

Lovely. I miss the long nights in the pub, watching the lead players' fingers and trying to join in on tunes like this.

Delightful melody as usual. It is a one- take, but still your sense of structure is impeccable.

A lovely, jaunty fiddle tune. Nice work

It’s perfect, the promise of spring still kinda weighted down by winter

Nice lively reel! It's got echos of She Moved Through the Fair but stands as its own piece. Lovely!
