Groundhog Day
by @alyak72
Liner Notes
Figured I would make a Groundhog Day themed tune to start out FAWM. I've noticed that time is flying by as I deal with depression. When there's nothing to break up the monotony, it seems like every day is the same. Glad FAWM is going on, because it gives me a huge motivation boost to actually do things. I value my alone time and space, but I need to remember to share it with others more often. Live life.. I brought in some Sonny and Cher vibes with a chord progression based on I Got You, Babe from Groundhog Day. Synths, guitar, drums, midi bass, vocals. 6/8 time
Lyrics
Noticed time was flying But not until I quit living Noticed how I stopped getting Long after I had stopped giving
It wasn't ever my intention To manipulate your affection Had to stop paying attention
Space is an addiction Time is an addiction
Noticed I quit falling Right after I stopped climbing Since I never went higher Never knew what was missing
It wasn't ever my intention To be ruled by an obsession To take no heed to premonition
Space is an addiction Time is an addiction
So I live the same day Over and over The same day Over and over The same day Over and over and over and over again
Noticed I was dying Couldn't make myself do anything And no one saved me So I lost everything
It wasn't ever my intention To boycott information Beyond my comprehension
Space is an addiction Time is an addiction
So I live the same day Over and over The same day Over and over The same day Over and over and over and over again

I really really love this. your voice and the pads are so warm like a fuzzy blanket. this is so lovely and relaxing. Honestly strikes me as one of my more favorite songs I've heard this month. love when the double vocals kick in. the chorus is freaking transcendent. Thank you for posting this gem!
Love your voice and the layers. The crunch guitar in the background leading up to “same day…” and then the harmonies - makes a wonderful build. Love your vibe!
The lift at "same day" is great. Your voice and the melodies are terrific throughout. The production is great. Love the sentiment; I can definitely relate.
yeah, I'm sucker for triplets! the different parts go so well together. Again brilliant sounds and production.
Loving the movie (I watch it every Feb 2!), it's a delight to hear this. The soft pop vibe is a beautiful balance to the melancholy lyric. It's wonderful hearing you again!
Ooooh I love me some dreampop and am so glad to have found this one. Super rhyming here too and what a catchy song. Thanks for playing!
I think you have a pretty voice and your production is good. I'd love to write some words for you! I suffer from manic depression or bipolar so I know what clinical depression feels like. I hope yours isn't as bad as mine used to be. I remember staying in a friend's room after my first hospitalization just thinking of how I could kill myself and sleeping constantly. I discovered a book shelf next to my mattress and started reading a couple of books. One was Blue Highways and the other about a nun who quit the church. Reading helped me get out of myself. I wrote a memoir about my experience called More Than The Madness. But I never could encapsulate so much.
Great vocal delivery. Synths sound so rad! Love the backing vocals as well. Very cool. Following!
So cool! Great play between keys in background and the melody!
I love the vibes and the lyrics great song
LOVE THISSSSSSS. Absolutely. Wonderful. Vibes on vibes on vibes. Wonderful instrumentation, lyrics, vocals… amazing. Obsessed. Listening again now…
Oh, yeah, Sonny was the first musician I meant to marry at age 2 or 3. Amazing that you can produce so much beautiful stuff when dealing with depression. This seems like such a precise description I love the mix of the bouncy upbeatness of the music and beat and the heaviness of the music. Wow.
