Where's My Time Machine?

Skirmish: What would you do with a ... (@robinleaf)Liner Notes
I missed the deadline for the original #skirmish but the prompt (thanks, Robin) marinated in my brain. Plus the #palindrome challenge was sitting out there as well. The chord changes in the intro, verses and outro are a palindrome (F,G,C,B,B,C,G,F) which led to some weird melodic changes...but that's the point, right? This started out as "Love Song #55 about that fateful moment" but acquired a #political edge along the way. Could we have prevented the fire before it got out of control? #protest #rock #timemachine
Lyrics
Where's My Time Machine? (c. 2025 raspberry33)
I remember feeling low not so long ago But right now that seems like “good old days” There’s a button that says pause I’m not pressing it because I need to wind back much further in this maze
I never wanted to be last never thought much of the past
But if I’m given the chance to enquire
I’d rewind to the days before the hills were ablaze
And we might have prevented the fire
CHORUS:
Where’s my time machine? I can’t be the only one
Who needs a time machine to undo what’s been done
Just a time machine knowing what we know now
We could/should have made very different choices.
VERSE 2: If we want to return to the fork in the road We need to ask the right question Where did we lose - our sense that the news Was the truth and not elitist suggestion?
I never wanted to be here can we go back a year? Maybe twenty years? That number could be higher I’d rewind to the days before our lives were ablaze When we still hoped to control the fire
CHORUS
VERSE 3 Do you feel you’ve been ignored Are you frightened, are you bored? Or just trying hard not to panic? Knowing what we know today Did we choose the safest way Or book first class on the Titanic?
Is there a way to escape this ugly landscape? Or was it always illusion? Set the time in reverse Before it gets any worse Before trouble becomes foregone conclusion…
CHORUS

Awesome production. Great pleading chorus. Really like the synth sax melody, great sound choices all around. Great voca harmony on the second chorus. Really cool. Nice work.
You've created a fully realized soundscape here. I love it all. Great plaintive storytelling, too. That chorus lands hard and memorably
You are definitely not the only one. I’m feeling these lyrics heavy right about now
Wow, I love this so much. Love the chorus, the spacey sounds, the echos, the palindromic chords too.
Great of course. I was wondering if "fork in the road" would appear in a lyric. I dig the time machine noises. Plaintive vocals in the chorus work well.
Great production, very subtle. Great job and who doesn't want a time machine. The Hillsborough reference is interesting, were you there? I remember the shocking footage and photos. Even stranger from someone from MA?
