Redshift Horizon
by @ndavies
Liner Notes
This was gonna be smooth spacey funk, but once the lyrics started coming, I realized it was much more of a belted Katy Perry-style pop song. Maybe the funky bass line will eventually make an appearance elsewhere.

Lyrics
You set your course towards a star You picked out of the sky and set your ship on autopilot and I shot into the unknown left a dying earth below I was glad to find someone close by
Now I want to say goodbye let’s give this one more try before I cross the redshift horizon
For a while it looked like the same heading Parallel we could almost start forgetting we set off separately, we wanted it desperately We shared a look back at the setting sun countless messages sent for everything the latency increased with every single ping Until we were trading letters like explorers like stranded settlers a whole world away with nothing more to say
Now I want to say goodbye just this one more time before I cross the redshift horizon Don’t reply it’s already too late the chasm grows too great for light to reach across the redshift horizon
The mile marker where we split is hardly a speck in the rear view mirror in this heat shimmer of a late stage universe Our roads diverged with no U-turns our days together are faded memories now I just remember remembering as I jettison everything else
Now I want to say goodbye one final time before I cross the redshift horizon Don’t reply it’s already too late the chasm grows too wide for light to reach across the redshift horizon

this totally floats, love the kick that just pushes the momentum forward! the strings make such a great entrance too—love the atmospheric production, lots of balance between spacey elements/stuff in the foreground to keep the clarity. looking forward to hearing more—followed ᵔᴥᵔ
Who said astrophysical metaphors couldn't be catchy? Nicely done!
What an absolute bop! I love the combination of sounds here, it feels very spacey and catchy. You capture a great balance between sad and hopeful. Love it! 🐸
Excellent dreamy pop! Definitely feels like you could go the full-on Katy Perry route with it but I kinda like the restraint, the guitar staying in floaty texture mode, the drums sticking to just the kick and the final chorus being stripped back rather than piling on the layers.
