I recently ran into two folks I had met at a dance class a year or so ago. I stopped going and lost touch with these folks I barely knew to begin with. I recently found them again and have struck up a friendship. In my songwriting class I teach last week, I wrote a bit about it. I turned it into a song today. The weekly challenge on FAWM was "palindrome" and I decided to try writing a palindromic chord progression aka it's the same backwards as forwards. I had a lot of fun in my funky tuning (DADF#BC#). Enjoy!

Lyrics
Rivers forget their past
Let go of the ocean or a mountain pass
Keep flowing, never knowing where they're going
We're sediments of the past
I met you again
Saw you unfold from strangers to friends
Don't move like I did back then
Could I have this dance along the river bend
Rivers forget their past
Let go of the ocean or a mountain pass
Keep flowing, never knowing where they're going
We're sediments of the past
We were strangers
Flitting apart before friendship formed
It was a hollow loss
Expired tears but we only danced once
Rivers forget their past
Let go of the ocean or a mountain pass
Keep flowing, never knowing where they're going
We're sediments of the past
Skirts flowing, hearts growing, souls overflowing
Takes a certain kind of soul to dance like that
We exchanged spirits and named
I'm ashamed I never looked back
Rivers forget their past
Let go of the ocean or a mountain pass
Keep flowing, never knowing where they're going
We're sediments of the past

Lovely is the right word for your song. I love the alt tuning and the way you use it to flow up and down the guitar; very unique sound. Looking forward to checking out more of your music.
This is lovely. The flow of the music and vocals is very dreamy. Isn't it too easy to move on and let friendship slip away? It's nice to hear you have met up again to build a friendship.
Started listening to this one earlier in the week and got interrupted. Glad I got back to it. It made me think of taking dance classes in Central Square in Cambridge a couple decades ago. I love the idea of going back there some day in the context of a river flowing. Great to be with you this FAWM. Looking forward to more of your music.
