Coming Down
Liner Notes
Lyrics
Blanket of fear Wrapped all around me I wanted someone to hold me But I only had this for safety
Rough on the back roads Hands on the wheel I’m holding the rope Losing hope But I’m yearning for real
Oh but I really want you to know That I’m on my way I feel scared and alone But my thoughts are safe I did this just to show That I’m trying to stay I just haven’t felt myself But that comes with age
Coming down Coming down from my mountain town Where I banished far away In a treacherous haze Now I’m coming down
Moving so slowly Like a mile in a day But my mind likes to deceive So the ghosts come to play
And when they surround me They whisper my name I can’t see where they are And my eyes don’t know where to aim
Oh, so I am searching all around For some kind of hope I’ve been dreaming for days Gotta widen my scope I thought being all alone Would’ve helped me to cope Wrote some letters to you But got no envelope
Coming down Coming down from my mountain town Where I banished far away In a treacherous haze Now I’m coming down
A horde of wild animals Drags me down Helps to carry me down To you, back to you Helps to carry me down
Coming down Coming down from my mountain town Where I banished far away In a treacherous haze Now I’m coming down

This is really nice. I'm hoping to gain some inspiration from this for my own songs which always end up topping out at about 2 minutes' length.
What a lovely song and an amazing one take effort! You have a powerful voice as well. Looking forward to checking out more this month!
Wow, beautiful guitar playing and voice. Clearly you belong in Nashville! I liked the idea that "I thought being all alone Would’ve helped me to cope" but it didn't, which brings us to the repeated "coming down" and the trajectory of the story.
Nice write! Lovely shifts in pacing and vocal intensity carry the listener along on this journey. "Wrote some letters .. but go no envelope" is a particularly strong image, as is that the wild animals are actually helping.
Wow beautiful singing and playing! You never know what you'll hear when checking out other people's music on FAWM, and this is one of the best! I don't have any comments other than that I loved it, and I'll check out more of your music!
@rcook understandable! I think I have the opposite problem, I write a lot and don’t want to cut any of it out a lot of the time. Writers rounds around here in Nashville prefer you to keep your songs under 3 minutes. I’m gonna work on trying to write shorter songs! Can’t wait to hear how your lengthier songs come out!
