I Got My Boots On

Liner Notes
Full disclosure, I have been playing around with this song for a few months now but hadn't finished it until I sat down tonight. I am always proud when I can write in a keychange LOL I work in construction as a project manager and wear my work boots everyday and then head off to an open mic or gig and change into my fancy boots. I love my boots. #singersongwriter #country #acoustic
Lyrics
V1 Some say a woman walks differently in heels It might be true, I can't figure out the deal One thing I know is when I put on them boots Theres a shift in my power, total confidence boost
Chorus I got my boots on Gotta earn my pay I got my boots on working all day I got my boots on I’m not messing around Kicking the barriers down
V2 Some still say a woman’s place is the home Might be for some but I take a different throne It aint always easy to know where I fit But I find my way with determination and grit
Bridge At the end of the day, I should just go home But despite good judgment, I just keep going on
Chorus 2 I got my boots on I’m ready to play I got my boots on Rockin’ away I got my boots on I’m not messing around Kicking them barriers down

@metalfoot Yeah that’s me with the cajón. I had to figure out some way to work my work boots in, I wear them every day. My other boots are red, I change them out when I perform :)
This is a great lyric and I love the tune especially in the chorus. I assume that's also you in the inset playing cajon and wearing the awesome boots?
Thanks @overflow so nice to see you here!!!
Nice key change! I especially love the “I got my boots on” lines!
Thank you @beacon - glad you enjoyed it. I had to figure out how to get my boots in the video somehow! :)
Great writing, and I love the country style. Really good video production also. Impressive. Nice to tell your own story and I like the key change in the bridge!
Oh, this is so great. I know exactly what you mean about how wearing boots can give you this solid place to stand. I like the way you sing it as much as I like the lyrics and the melody. So much confidence and texture to your voice. I like it that it's based on your real job too, not just an imagined persona.
