The Difference Between A Duck

Liner Notes

#ExquisiteOddballs #WeirdoCorpse Our offering as Weirdo Group 2 in @gardeningangel's "Exquisite Oddballs (aka Weirdo Experimental Corpses)" challenge. https://write.fawm.org/forums/3092 Dramatis Personae (in order of appearance): @dreamscuba @dotsandlines @bandybum @dragondreams

DD sez: Being true to the spirit of an exquisite corpse, as stitcher and the last in the group, I didn't listen to any of the parts other than the last ten seconds from @bandybum when I put my own piece together. So it was a sonic delight when I got to hear the whole thing! These corpsey things never fail to amaze me.

Wait, the voice came back in the last part. I love how it feels like there is so much story, and how counting parts I thought there were three not four. Seamlessly delicious.

That shift from the hard-rocking intro to the acapella part is magical. I'd like to go to the river now. It's cool how those voices and sounds overlap as the river sounds come in. I had to listen to the song again. I thought there were only three parts--so well did the last two segments mesh and enhance each other. I really like the atmosphere and driving beats there. Just beautiful

Drastically different weather as we move from state to state. Any one of these sections could easily be built out into a terrific song on its own. As an exquisite corpse, it delivers the goods as promised. May a healthy dose of embalming fluid and some appropriate mummification keep it intact and safe from any uninvited tomb raiders.

Ha! FAWM at its best with these types of collabs that could really only happen here. Blazing guitars give way to vocals and nature sounds to warped synth rock to bouncy jabbing soundscape with atmospheric vocals. 🙌🎶

This is one of the more eclectic corpses I've heard, but there's definitely a theme running through it; all sorts of splendid things happen. I can hear Groucho in my head asking, "Why a duck?" The answer lies within...

@opossum

So, this type of corpse is a bit different than what I am used to finding (like my Grandma on the road!) Lemme see if I find some enjoyment here!

OK, so this starts up at FULL SPEED RAWK with some smoking guitars and awesome overall groove! I am liking this part quite a lot! Next up is some mighty purty acapella singing with terrific ambiance! Gosh, this is relaxing and soothing to my tiny ears or maybe it is some sort of chanting deep in the forest which I just love! I do hear a creek or river! And next I am totally digging the pop-ish full production beauty with awesome bass line! Finally there is a synthy delight to drive this corpse home, right through the heart of town. That last bit seems to have dragon prints all over it! Well, this sure was a fun piece of musical adventure to listen to! Thanks to all y'all for making it and producing it and sharing it! #tit4tat

This is my first experience of hearing an exquisite corpse so I have no frame of reference. It feels a bit like a dream you want to remember- weird and compelling

@deena

So flipped out, and cinematic with different scenes! Remarkable!

What a start to the corpse! Hair (which I don't have)...blown back! Then into the cool acapella bit, taking a step back but keeping the intensity. Into the cleansing denoument of the third section, before the rolling credits of the last part, hinting at a sequel in the works.

We begin right in the center of the action, pyrotechnics and explosions, fast cars and even faster guitars. Whoooa, my face is melllllllting!!! Quick cut to Scene 2, a complete 180 (yet the single shimmering thread of tempo keeps us from getting whiplash)... our hero, singed and seared, now traveling in solitude through enchanted forest, guided by the haunting song of the Water Nymphs... Just around a dark corner, the scenery opens to reveal a wide horizon, dazzling sunlight, a high waterfall casting rainbows in the sparkling spray... our hero has reached the destination and retrieved the Golden Chalice! No time to dawdle in this enchanted land, our hero now travels on a mighty steed, galloping at full speed to deliver the Chalice and end the drought in their homeland. Huzzah! 🔥💧🌈🏆

This worked so well, I loved how it dropped, I was digging the groove then it just dropped into some acappella to be thrust back up again to some more grooving. I loved the dynamics of this based on that. Great job.

@bandybum

Ah yes lovely work, guys. Sizzling opening and lots of sonic weird and wonderfulness throughout. Just love these corpse challenges. Thanks to each of you :)

Very interesting directions with this corpse. Everyone was very creative. Great stitching Master Dragondreams. Bert the Stitched Duck lives.

Wow! That's more coherent than I expected. It's a fun journey. I love that @bandybum picked up the water element.

@esc4p3

Four people went on a journey, not knowing exactly where they would end up...... In the end, a really different piece of music was created, taking twists and turns right through to the end. Great work everyone 👍

Rocking right out of the gates. The guitar work is excellent. Drums are rad. Entire production is so impressive. Mixed well to capture each vibe of the highs and lows. Well done, everyone!

@tfish77

Wow, fantastic production right out of the gate. And then the twists and turns along the way! Shocking to the ears, but in a really fascinating way. Nicely done, you four!
