Contrary
by @lbrewington
Liner Notes
I begrudgingly have to admit that I am a contrarian. As to why I, maybe I'll figure it out before I die. In the meantime here is a song that doubles back on itself in order to say no more.

NotesDon't quite have this one down but it's really close. The take is good enough, and it will only get better (I hope). Seems to be a timing issue. Easy enough to fix.

I like how this depicts when one is being contrary to the contrarion, who is also perhaps rebutting a contrarion........yup sounds like cable opinionews.
Damn, Lee, you're getting better with your performances by leaps and bounds. This is a highly original lyric idea--no surprise coming from you, but this is great. And FWIW, I didn't really notice any big timing or phrasing issues.
I love the vocal delivery and melody, they work so well together. I love the idea of the lyric and you've written it well. You had me by the schooling and news anchor lines in the first verse.
I’m imagining an old curmudgeon rocking on the porch telling how it is. Makes me think of Guy Clark but also Norman Blake with a wisp of that song about moving to the country and blowing up the tv. The words are just right. I alwant to sing along a little “Feed ‘em on peaches” towards the end.
