River of Ice

I’m walking a river of ice Going where no one should go I don’t know how I got here Going with the flow

When the tide comes in Pushes the floes upstream I, too, fight the drift Trying to find my dream

Pushed by wind and current Ice sheets overlap and stack Or suddenly pull apart Revealing water cold, dark, black

If I took the ferry, crossing shore to shore Life would be predictable, but there could be more

When the tide goes out Pulling the ice to the sea Far beyond the horizon Where I’ll end up eventually

I’m walking a river of ice Going where no one should go I don’t know how I got here I’m going with the flow
