I've had the title in mind for about six months. Today a melody and progression presented themselves, and it came together. This is also a hopepunk song - about having hope even when things are hard. Enjoy.
Lyrics
Capo 3 G Em G Em G
Verse 1
G Am7
Everyone has had a day of failures
G Am7
We’ve all had a day of nothing right
C D G Em
We’ve all had a day that could be better
Am7 D
Everyone has had a sleepless night
We’ve all had a time when nothing’s working Everyone has had a day of “no” Everyone has had to face the music We’ve all had a day of “stop” and “slow”
CHORUS Am7 G Remember, though, that nothing is forever Am7 D And there will always be another day Am7 D G Em Remember that a trickle is in motion Am7 D G Remember water always finds a way
G Em G Em G
Verse 2 We all have had a time when there’s no choices And every choice seems weaker than the last Everyone has had a day of spinning A day of going nowhere really fast
Everyone knows what it’s like to blow it We all have vivid memories of that scene Everyone has had a rotten morning Everyone just wants to wash it clean
CHORUS
G Em G Em G
Verse 3 Take a minute, come and see the water Watch the stream as it goes tumbling on Watch the sea and feel the waves continue Feel the movement, feel the light of dawn
Let it go and let it take you onward Find the rills and spaces for the flow Watch the water find a way around it Be with the water, going as you go
CHORUS 2 Remember that the sun will go on rising Remember that the moon will wax and wane Remember that the bad day isn’t staying Remember there will be an end to pain
CHORUS
OUTTRO Am7 D Em Remember water always finds a way Am7 D G Remember water always finds a way
G Em G Em G

Anyone who can’t relate to this isn’t human. Maybe isn’t alive. The hope in this is much appreciated.
This brings back all the geology classes I took way back when. Even the sturdiest stone will wear down from the motion of water over enough time. Even frozen solid, it can make a change. Connecting that to human experiences really does inspire hope.
Hopepunk it is. I find it interesting that you edited the chorus lyrics as you went - "a trickle is still motion" does work better than the original, I agree. Verse 3 is especially nice, I like the clear image of finding a way around whatever is an obstacle. Yay for good use of seventh chords. :)
My favorite motto is water is gonna water. This is a wonderful song.
This is soft and pretty, like a cleansing rain or a creek wandering along in a meadow.
Such a kind feeling song… good job! Really gets the spirits up
Such a great reminder! I love the chord progression you used! Beautifully done! - Natalie
Great chorus, love the hook. If one where to have this mantra as their song, their life would improve without doubt.
