Closer to the Edge
Skirmish: Growing (@ragbag)Liner Notes

A metaphorical city that will slide off a cliff someday.
My continuing quest to find the bridge between two 1970s icons, Bachman-Turner Overdrive and Yes.
Lyrics
[1] One more house goes up Before the sun goes down Can’t stop won’t stop It makes the world turn around
Like a well that pumps as planned Every day till it runs dry Streets on ground that stands Eleven stories high
[chorus] At the mercy of nature No matter what we said And the city keeps growing City keeps growing City keeps growing Closer to Closer to Closer to the edge
[2] We do what we will To try to stabilize the base But no amount of landfill Has ever kept a cliff in place
No mountain climber Has ever scaled the face But still we believe That we will win the race
[chorus] At the mercy of nature No matter what we said And the city keeps growing City keeps growing City keeps growing Closer to Closer to Closer to the edge
[chorus] At the mercy of nature No matter what we said And the city keeps growing City keeps growing City keeps growing Closer to Closer to Closer to the edge

The stop start guitar really works - and I really like the chorus. :-)
I love the tension of the soaring melody on "Closer to the edge" - it really solidifies the vibe of the song. Nice skirmishing!
I can see what you were trying to do there with the merging of Yes and BTO :-) Nice guitar part as well.
