Weak Heart
Liner Notes
@kristian : I'm trying to set myself timelines to not spend too long on each song. This was a learning experience for me cause I added stuff only to remove it the next second cause this really is a case of less is more! I have worked with @leslie since .. gah.. 2011 or so? always a pleasure
Leslie: I'm writing relationship songs inspired by poisonous plants this year for the #poisonerchallenge - this one's for Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea). It regulates arrhythmic heartbeats and just said #dance tune to me.
Kristian sent me a beat, I wrote the lyrics & melody, recorded the vocals and sent them back, and he brought the song to life. Can't believe we've been collaborating for almost 15 years!
Lyrics
Oh I had a weak heart, weak heart Oh I had a weak heart, lover Oh I had a weak heart, weak heart Oh I had a weak heart, lover
My rhythm was stuttering Tempo was in and out And I was sink or swim When you found me
I needed to regulate Give up my self-control Over these palpitations Palpitations
You taught me how to move to the music How to float to the top How to breathe when I'm running Now I'll never stop
Oh I had a weak heart, weak heart Oh I had a weak heart, lover Oh I had a weak heart, weak heart Oh I had a weak heart, lover
Anxiety surfacing Maybe I can't let go Now that you're beating slowly I'm pounding
Just show me how to move to the music How to float to the top I don't care if it kills me I will never stop
Oh I had a weak heart, weak heart Oh I had a weak heart, lover Oh I had a weak heart, weak heart Oh I had a weak heart, lover

Good lyrics. Less is often more indeed.
This is so enjoyable, very dancy - great solution to the poisonous plant challenge with foxglove.
This is delightful. Well written, arranged and produced. Great listen. I'll stop babbling now. Leslie, I am in awe of your ability to get an idea across in a song. Kris, there you go again.
Kristian is right, less is more here. Tasty 80s vibe with a big phat bass. Love the drum kit choice. Leslie, this is an amazing vocal. Great story telling.
Fantastic synth pop track - I love the choruses in particular! The dynamics are perfect.
Fantastic collab!
This is synth pop heaven. I love its gothic feel and dark dramatic vibe. Great catchy chorus. Needs a double chorus at the end.
I love the concept - The Foxglove! The heartbeat here is steady and strong. Great rhythms and awesome vocals!
Wow, this is such a great groove and instrumentation. It's interesting to see how you can create such great sounds with so less elements. Big production magic, and such a tight groove in the drums and vocals. I love that idea of turning the irregular heartbeats into a poisonous song :)
I like the arrangement, with the chorus pads changing up the sound. Great vocals, as always.
Strong groove, love the mix of fluid and staccato in the melody, and the poisonous plant theme weaves really well into here. Much head bopping going on, really cool 😎
This is very cool! The punch and slide notes at the end of phrases are some of my favourite moments in this. The strip back to just the dance beat shows off the fun shifty layers in it, very fitting for an arrhythmic heartbeat.
Love it. The musical track, rhythm is radio ready. The hook is out there in front grabbing you right from the start. @leslie 's vocals are perfection!
The little gaps in the melody between weak and heart are really cool. It has such great spaces throughout really. Along with that superb synth bass, it makes it really danceable.
