The Wolf Who Cried Boy
by @edwinb
Liner Notes
Idea taken from an SMBC comic (this one: https://www.smbc-comics.com/comic/wolf-2). There may be a moral to this #silly #ukulele song but if so, I don't know what it is.
Just me and my tenor ukulele, straight to laptop. #fuc
Lyrics
The wolf went to the clearing Every single day To howl to the others That a boy was on his way
The other wolves would hear him, they came from west and east They'd run towards the clearing Waiting for the feast
But no boy ever came They fell for his game Played with like a toy By the wolf who cried boy
But the wolf went to the clearing, he'd keep on going back And they'd listen to his howling, maybe this time, there's a snack
The other wolves grew weary, the joke was getting cheap Went back to bed like grandma and Dressing up like sheep
When no boy ever came They'd fallen for his game Played with like a toy By the wolf who cried boy
No boy ever came They tired of his game Played with like a toy By the wolf who cried boy
Then one day in the clearing when the daily cry was made Emerging from the trees was a boy, lost, and afraid
Though the others heard the cry they shrugged and stayed at home And with no wolf there to help He ate the boy on his own
When the boy came He'd played the long game There was more to enjoy For the wolf who cried boy

What, no 3 little pigs reference - those other wolves really blew it. Fun idea.
This little inversion with a twist gave me a good chuckle this morning! Excellent!
Moral? Hmmm. Disappointing people is a good way to make them leave you alone?
Regardless, it's a good example of a song that tosses a cliché on its head.
Lol, I think there's a moral, but it's good for greedy wolves! This made me smile this morning. I can imagine this being a singalong song, with everyone joining in on the chorus. Happy chord progression, which perfectly sets off the cheeky lyrics. I might add some syllables in the chorus for scansion but that's very much just personal preference, so ignore it if you're happy. Does not take away from the toe-tapping tune.
Good title again! Guest appearance by red riding hood! But he got him yeah, none of this namby pamby stuff!
well, the title drew me in and I stayed for the ride. This is so fun. The opposite take on the fable is super fun. Well done indeed.
Fun, if gruesome, ditty. I can add little to Bill’s comment.
this is clever reversal of the boy who cried wolf, which did have a moral although this one doesnt. i also liked the touch of little red riding hood that completed the picture.
Well, this is definitely a different moral to the story!
