The Living Green (warning! Very rough)

Liner Notes
I would like to do (but will probably never manage to get around to doing) some sort of YouTube campaign for my webcomic, Rogues of Clwyd-Rhan, and was thinking about what sort of music I would need for that. Some sort of background music for short videos, and a theme song to go with animated anime-style end credits. Both would have to be short, ideally under a minute, but suggest something bigger. So this is chorus/verse/chorus and the beginnings of a guitar solo. Simplicity is key for this sort of thing; I imagine it would be accompanied by an animated walk cycle, which I’m pretty sure I could do.
Even with the choice of keeping this super simple, I had a really hard time getting the demo down and I had to reduce my expectations all the way to “Well, I guess I didn’t flub the lyrics this time”. Normally, I write the demo one day and then rehearse and record it the next. This time, I missed a writing day and did the whole thing in one evening without rehearsal. The result is a demo that is only useful as the barest sketch, which is disappointing. But my plan for this FAWM was to stay on schedule no matter what, so a disappointing demo is what everyone is getting. Can’t say it hasn’t left me feeling utterly incompetent though. But a functional idea can always be redone later.
Rogues of Clwyd-Rhan is a fantasy comic and if I were to pick the most obvious musical style to go with it, I would probably go for some bardcore. Problem is, I don’t like bardcore! I find most of it cheesy and too clever by half, and I find the very best of it barely tolerable. But I’ve always thought that if it was an animated series, its credits song would be “Now Be Thankful” by Fairport Convention, but instead of Dave Swarbrick and Richard Thompson, it would be sung by a soprano. But I wouldn’t want to have to deal with licencing a song and then recording it, so I guess I’m stuck trying to write something that would work in its place.
Lyrics
Chorus Come with me to the living green Kneel and touch the living green Now give thanks to the living green To which we shall return
Verse There’s so much to be thankful for The sky above, the forest floor
The gentlest folk that we must adore The world beyond the veil
Chorus Come with me to the living green Kneel and touch the living green Now give thanks to the living green To which we shall return

Nice song. I don't think it's that rough for FAWM. Doesn't have to be perfect. These are just demos. Keep putting out the rough sketches. Good job!
That's what FAWM is about! The idea comes through very clearly here.
