Completion of FAWM status: I snuck in a 14th piece after all, so I technically made it, but I don't feel like I did because one song is just a new version of another, albeit very altered (for the better) by a collaborator. I got some pretty decent songs in, but what strikes me the most is how dark all of it is, including the danceable one. Usually I have one or two silly things in there; not this year. If I have the energy, I may develop three or four of these tracks, but that's a big if.

Cartoonist, translator, guitarist and bassist living part-time in Portugal and part-time in the north of the Netherlands. I like affordable new and vintage #guitars and #synths (my definition of vintage is cheap, crappy and old). I'm hoping this year to collaborate with other FAWMers more. Can't sing, do it anyway.

Currently looking for work, and learning Portuguese.

My YouTube channel now has three whole albums by my 1990s band The Hooded Crow: https://www.youtube.com/@ReinderDijkhuis

Those are curated by my brother, and his YouTube Channel has almost every piece of music he recorded during the 1990s and early 2000s and I'm on a lot of those tracks as well: https://www.youtube.com/@johandij

I've got you on my list for the summer! And I'm still going to work on that song of yours if you want! I'm really sorry I didn't get to it.

FAWM Zoom...just a few people today...but the time change has some people coming in late.

Hi, I just tried to play the demo of my Soliloquy and it worked fine. I double checked by listening on my phone too. Maybe the problem is your end. I hope you get to hear it. Let me know if you do with a comment on the song's page.

thanks Reinder, i was trying to move up a bit from the -14 LUFS which always sound weedy next to others, heard a few cases for -10 LUFS which is what i have been going for - but maybe too much? or maybe just those stutter effects push it momentarily. Thanks for feedback!

@antlion

to be honest I do not have the sophistication level to do much useful with the stems, haha, but thank you for offering.

@antlion

thanks! :) once it's done do you prefer that I just post it as a new collab? and is it all right with you if the title ends up changing in my version depending on how the lyrics go?

Sounds good, I emailed you!

Hey @reinderd I am confused by your drum track for the #digital4track, it comes out at 140 bpm for me, as opposed to @bradbrubaker 's 116, can you check if it's as intended by you?

@gm7

Well done...I hope you are feeling better Reinderd. Thx

Hi @reinderd, as luck would have it, I haven't started yet, so knock yourself out 😄

Hey @reinderd ! I see you are the person after me for #digital4track thread number 2. I have put my stems over at Bandcamp, where you should be able to download as a wav.

https://selfasmetaphor.bandcamp.com/album/fawm2025-digital4track-stems

As you will hear, I recorded a vocal part. One stem is the vocals naked; the other has a hi-hat as guidance for lining the track up. 146 bpm. 4/4

I am not well-versed in music theory. I cannot tell you the key I am in. What I can tell you is the notes I am singing.

Notes for intro fade in: A# / C / D Notes for the first three lines of the chorus are all D / C / A# / G. Notes for the last line of the chorus are the above, plus F and a low D#.

Obviously, the non-chorus is spoken, so no notes there.

The singing on the chorus starts on count 2, not 1.

Questions? Let me know!

@nadine

Thanks a lot for stopping by! I just googled the band you named. They make quite interesting prog, I didn't know them yet!

Hi, answering your question about my tracking of solar panels here rather than the thread. I developed a spreadsheet to track the numbers in the power company meter and my inverter output readings to answer questions I was getting about return on investment, and to learn more about our own electricity usage and how that is affected by running the heater, air conditioner, and charging our electric cars.

good to see you Reinder! Have fun! (I have a song whose singalong at the end (mass impro) is "I can't sing - but I sing anyway"
