Well, from a rant (Time to Mourn), to something a little more uplifting and positive. That's been the state of things lately (outragedš”...hopefulš...disgustedš¤¬...looking at Jesusšš»).
I had some trouble with my transitions between verse and chorus (I need to learn more theory), and I'm not sure the harmony on the chorus works very well, but any more editing will be for laterāŗļø.
SONG UPDATE: I have updated the transitions (though not perfect, are better), and added another verse to make the ending make a little more sense musically, as well as make a plea for the resurgence of banding together for the sake of the common good.
Lyrics
I am a stone, dropped in the river With the water washing over me then down to the sea I am tenacious, I am secure
I am a stone, with all my colors Shining brightly at the lakeshore on a brilliant sunny day Iām a reflection of the divine
Chorus With water all around me, though it pushes and it shoves I'm quite immovable
Though the current may be strong, I know that I am stronger still Itās indisputable
I am a stone, held in a hand Now on the surface of the water I am skimming with the breeze I am flying, I am free
I am a stone from the Creator Who has fashioned me with purpose to be exactly what I am I am lovely, I am loved
Chorus With water all around me, though it pushes and it shoves I'm quite immovable
Though the current may be strong, I know that I am stronger still Itās indisputable
I am a stone, with many others We are building the foundation of something wonderful and new Made of kindness, made of truth
We are the stones, here in the water With all the colors, shapes, and sizes, and so glad to be alive We are the present, and what lies ahead
I am a stone, we are the stones, come be a stone All for one, and one for all...

I love this image of being the stone, particularly in the moment that it skims across the water. This is such a beautiful description of mortality. Then all the other places you take the image of the stone. Stones are a big image for me in song writing , I think about my job as being picking up stones the river has pushed down to the beach, I can pick out the ones I love, but if I try to get them all they are too heavy. Other times I'm the River pushing the stones that are ideas down to the beach, for my later self to pick through.
I like the changes from the opening bounciness, so the flowingness - mimicking how small stones in the water tend to move. Jostled at little back and forth as gentle waves sweep in and out, then suddenly tumbling, pushed by a bigger wave.
Such positive phrasing, I especially like 'I am a stone from the Creator" lines, but really, there are so many great phrases in these lyrics. The recognition that we are stones with different features, yet all together, and the invitation to move forward together. So compelling!!
The transitions into the chorus sound fine to me the harmonised vocals really lift it - like the little silent pause after the chorus too.
This is lovely. Your voice is really wonderful - I could listen to it for hours. The harmony in the chorus is beautiful. I like the analogy of the stone throughout. Nice writing. :-)
I love all of the stone imagery - powerful and empowering! Lovely lilt to your piano, and your voice is soulful and warm. A moving song that I needed to hear!
I like the lilting feel and those bunched chords in your right hand! What a lovely expression of your sense of self and belovedness amidst the turmoil around you.
I really like your voice! Paired with your fun and light piano playing, it gives it a really nice feel. Thanks for this uplifting song!
This is absolutely lovely! I love the jaunty bouncy piano with the lovely flowing melody as delivered by your gorgeous vocals! Wonderfully poetic lyrics!!!
Like the previous comment, I was thinking about this song in a musical! It sounds very sunny, summery and cheery. Iām picturing lots of pink/green/yellow for the costuming and set! You have a very soothing voice also. :)
I can totally hear this in a Broadway show! Beautiful vocals and melodic choices. I really like the last line of each verses - wonderful lyrical pacing contrast. Love what you did musically with "immovable" and "indisputable" - fabulous dissonance. Nice harmonies on the chorus. Lovely lyrics, and a truly beautiful song with a great message.
It sounds like it could be in a musical! I really like the piano accompaniment and the vocal line is great. I like the image as well, of being the stone, strong and building something together with others.
