The Art Of Compromise

by @rshakesp

Liner Notes

My tenth (phew double figures at last!) in my series '12 short nonsense songs about love' - I've been pretty varied in style this year - and I wanted to try something with lots of space so here we go.

Lyrics

We try To find each other's highs To Laugh When we otherwise might cry To give When the urge is there to take That's the art of compromise

We sing All the songs our lover loved We praise As if magic from above Brought them to our ever thankful self That's the art of compromise

You must do What you do To make your life fulfilled Cos your the only one Who really knows What goes on inside you.

Love someone else with a piano. Lovely harmonies. Good concept: the art compromise. And it is indeed an art. The synths in the bridge make a great variation. Your chord progressions are very good. So is your melody. #tit4tat

Wow really love this. Your proximity effect usage up on top of the mic really lent an intimacy to this. And I hear your full voice, some real shining moments vocally. The song structure reminded me a touch of some Joe Jackson ballads. Maybe thought of a delicate jazz brush percussive thing happening in the background. Tennder and admirable song right here.

Lovely song - really enjoyed the production with the simple piano, double tracked vocals and strings - great fit for the song. Strong lyrics and a very nice melody. Smashing stuff :-)

Lovely feel to this. Your vocal is great and reminds me of Kevin Ayers a bit, which is a real compliment. Good stuff

this is lovely, the piano backing almost reminds me of Andrew Bird a bit even though he doesn’t do much piano stuff (i think?) and it does the lyrics a great favor especially when the strings come in. very very sweet and very very good. :-)

Beautiful piece, beautiful concept.

Really enjoyed listening/watching the story unfold. Enjoy the way you've played with the words and thoughts, here.

Congrats on double digits! And thanks for the listen on comment.
