Musical Debate

Liner Notes

Playing it back, I think this is one of my best instrumental improvisations. It uses a theme that might sounds just a little like a well-known tune and takes it through a set of variations that amount to a debate between the higher and lower ranges. I'm extremely happy with it and hope you like it.

Ah, yes, this is very well done. Thanks for sharing it.

lol--yes, I hear the tune it is akin to. But I love where you take it. I used to think that song was just a facade, but now I think it was remembering the last time we all put heads and hearts together to save what kept each of our cultures unique. Too brief. Then, people left thinking everyone was on board with that plan, but they weren't. And that's what I hear in the dark notes, the grumble of the keys--but the hopeful notes win out. Lovely, soft, seemingly weak, but stronger than they seem.

Ah, I just glanced at the title (having forgotten it). Yes, indeed. This is a true winner of a piece I think it would go over very well in this precise moment. Beautiful.

Very interesting. I like how it keeps changing pace/style, but it's still a coherent piece. The part with the 'silences' at 0:25 sounds a bit angry. Then around 0:45 it becomes 'happy, like a child playing' again. I like how it keeps 'changing the mood' like this. This sounds a bit as if it tells a story about a child's dream where sometimes monsters come up, but then the child approaches the monsters and they actually turn out to be nice guys.

Or it's a musical debate, that could also be :D
