Your Situation
by @bethkille
Liner Notes
Just wanted to pretend for a little while like I was a strung out rockstar with big hair, too much eyeliner and a cigarette hanging out of my mouth instead of a 50 year-old mom living in the suburbs wearing sweatpants. All sorts of slop in this performance and I like it that way:). P.s. distortion and delay on everything is, indeed, the answer. And oh, this is number FOURTEEN! Crap, now I have no more excuses for not doing "real" work.
Lyrics
VERSE 1 So what’s your situation? Cuz I know a guy who knows a guy With a potion That will ease your mind And soothe your soul It could be poison But if you mix it right And take it slow It’ll fix you Up real nice With a steady afterglow
VERSE 2 So what’s your situation Cuz they found a way to make picture Perfect Thinner, younger, taller Oh, it could be deadly But if you use it right and take it slow It’ll fix you Up real nice With a steady afterglow
CHORUS Scalpel, suction Try this pill Drink it down Send us the bill We’re looking for The quickest quick fix Stitch me up and hope it sticks
VERSE 3 So what’s your situation You think you’re fine But let me tell you What you’re missing All your dreams come true Oh, let me show you How you do it You just use this right and take it slow It’ll fix you Up real nice With a steady afterglow
CHORUS Scalpel, suction Try this pill Drink it down Send us the bill We’re looking for The quickest quick fix Stitch me up and hope it sticks

Rock on! Not sure if it's that my ears are damaged from too much loud music when I was 49 (now that I'm 52), but I feel like there's a nice tension in the rhythm between the guitars and the drums -- almost like they are slightly out of sync, but they're not. It generates a constant pull throughout the song, generating angst while the train barrels down the track. Reminds me of some of my favorite Tool tracks from Undertow and Aenima. Great way to hit 14 songs!
50 Beth? You're only a baby. Great rock chick track. love the way the guitar's snarl are set way back in the mix, brings to mind Siouxsie and the Banshees.
Really enjoyed the listen.
It's amazing, you nailed another genre! AI will never be able to keep up with Beth Kille.
Congrats to making it to 14. I'm almost there as I write this. It's good to take yourself down the occasional dark alley of the soul and come out the other end. Chorus is great here!
Huge thumbs up for the super-flanger-delay-dripped geetar 🎸
Love the groove, and the attitude all up in the lyrical delivery. The guitar plug delay at the end even counts as a guitar solo. RAWWWWWWKKKKKK.
To be clear, sweatpants are infinitely and unironically hotter than eyeliner and big hair. The 80s lied to us.
I love this song so much!!!! Distortion makes everything better! Congrats on #14…though I know we all want more! :)
Approved! You couldn't be a proper hairband without distortion in everything. You're a rockstar even if you don't have a cigarette loosely hanging off you bottom lip. Great attitude and groove.
Love this!! The distortion, drum track, and your vocal pacing. It had me wanting a shaker! A great commentary or a scary part of 1st world issues.
