Capacity

David says: Really pleased with how this one turned out! @philnorman sent me a quick acoustic demo of the insanely catchy 'ca-ca-ca-capacity' hook and some ideas on lyrical themes, then let me crack on with what I enjoy doing most... tracking a load of guitars and doing some over-the-top #bluesrock vocals š . Once I'd added verses/bridge and built out the track, Phil laid down some gorgeous backing vocals. And from there it's been such a joy going back and forth - honing lyrics, adding extra bits to the arrangement, and generally making it a real team effort. Hoping that comes through in the track.
Phil says: David is underselling his effort on this one. I gave him the equivalent of a scribble on a cocktail napkin, he returned with the Sistine Chapel. So much fun to work together and have this catchy thing be the result.
Lyrics
I got a fog on my brain Iām always hazy When every day is the same It drives you crazy The big report that you need Youāre saying right now? I wanna do as I please But I donāt know how
Man, Iām spread pretty thin these days Oh, youād be amazed
Thank you for thinking of me Iām at ca-ca-ca-ca-ca-capacity Thank you for thinking of me Iām at ca-ca-ca-ca-ca-capacity Ca-ca-ca-ca-ca-capacity Ca-ca-ca-ca-ca-capacity
News is moving so fast Makes me nervous Place of safety is passed Nobody heard us Now Iām falling to bits The bosses own me I got my targets to hit They go up monthly
Yeah, round here you work ātil you die So let me testify
Chorus
Everything blurs when you feel this tired You sit there feeling helpless and uninspired Worry about your kids, your wife And every other thing in your goddamn life
Chorus

I really love this song! Ace emotive vocals with the great ca ca ca ⦠stutter on the chorus. Cool guitar lines! That chorus is so dang catchy and the verses feel so timely, relevant, and relatable! I love how you linger on the last words of the first lines in the bridge. Really effective. Superb song!!!
Having fun tracking guitars? Oh, I'd never have guessed...
This is great fun. And my goodness me, WHAT a hook in the chorus!
You two really got the 60s rock down. And I agree that the ca ca ca capacity is catchy. But the thing I like the most is the big intro!
Love it, the gritty vocal and lead guitar in unison is kind of late '60s early '70s and super cool. The chorus is killing. What a great collab!
Oh man, this is huge. The chorus is dynamite, says so such in two lines. Great guitar work and all held together by an amazing vocal from David, pushing way past capacity. Excellent work from both of you.
𤯠This goes. I can see a cool slow motion heist montage happen to this. Lots of cool guitar and ear candy. The vocals sound so good. I bow before you.
Love the vocal delivery and production in general, the semi-psychadelic bridge back into the chorus works brilliantly. Really great, no notes - even the ending is on point. Wowzers!
Sistine Chapel it is! Really, really very "professional" and radio-ready song you guys have come up with. Very impressed! ā¤ļø
Nailed the 60s Brit rock vibe. Another monster production - I donāt know where you get the energy and time! Iām just dying to do a solo over this.
Super catchy chorus. I love a song about turning down work in the corporate circus!
That chorus is such a terrific hook. The lyrics are so relatable on the whole. This really is like the Sistene chapel; beautifully crafted and wonderfully executed. This is a damn bop
What a smashing hook! Iām going to be singing, ca-ca-ca-ca-capacity all day! You guys are a great team. I think Philās Liner Notes (Sistine Chapel) would make a terrific companion piece.
Your vocal on this is something else!" It has such a full and powerful sound and that hook is just so blinkin hooky! Great collaboration and work here.
Oof! Soul mannnnn. Love this. Love the grit you have got out of it, but it also sounds pretty clean too. How?! Lots of hooks here. The verse itself is very hooky. Pre chorus is excellent, well done for having a pre chorus in FAWM. And a middle 8!
Man, this is great! I love the hook on the chorus, it's so dang catchy. The guitar/vocal riff in the verses groove so hard, the pre-chorus is perfect. That bridge hits a little too close to home, I think.
Well hell. This is a team-up I didn't know I needed until just now. What a ride! That chorus is just magical - I cannot get over how much the BVs by @philnorman add to an already brimming production. As always, @davidtaro brings equal parts musicality and theatricality with those vocals. I'm not jealous - you're jealous!
What a relatable topic. It's also a pretty fun(ny) image - some corporate cog-in-suit feeling so overwhelmed and unfulfilled that they belt out a catchy-as-sin hook about how overwhelmed and unfulfilled they are. A sort of battle-cry issuing from the nook with the coffee maker and copy-machine... Makes me chuckle
As relatable lyrics go, this is SUPER hard on the YUP end of the scale. (I personally also love the irony of this being the result of a collaboration three quarters of the way through FAWM). Love the sound, it's just so big and full and lovely. The ca-ca-ca- on the chorus is a great choice, and the BVs are a big lovely velvet curtain of lush. Great work lads.
What an instant classic! That chorus is so hooky and rockin, it hits all the right spots and the harmonies are right in the pocket. Over-the-top vocals? Never! You gave the song exactly what it needed, infectious energy and power. That last verse really resonated with my current time/energy poor FAWM self! Top collab gents
Oh man that driving beat in the chorus really accentuates the ca ca capacity lines. This is so catchy and smooth. Killer tune guys!
yup Phil that's David for you! rock on guys. this one blasts onto orbit!
This is absolutely amazing! Not sure I can add anything that others haven't said and beat me to. It's such a fine example of straight up rock and roll. So good.
Rockān tune!!! Holy smokesā¦as @nancyrost said, itās so ca ca ca ca ca catchy. Dig the guitar and vox, lead and backing. Sounds like a fun project for you twoā¦real teamwork šš»
Such a great collaboration. The short verse phrases get to that excellent chorus that will be running through my head forever (and will be extremely useful to keep in my back pocket).
Ca ca ca catchy, super relatable, and a banger! I hear some Keef in the guitar chords, and a whole lot of other stuff that's clearly yours. Love those chorus harmonies!
A wonderfully tasty wall of sound - pretty Stonesy to my ear. Great hook, super vocal layers and lead vocal performance. Great use of ātestifyā canāt go wrong with that! You need to have a sharp word about your monthly targets - thatās not sustainable!
Wowza! This is such a banger! I like how the guitar doubles the vocal melody in the verses. How you play with the timing on the pre-chorus really caught my ear. Oh this chorus - those dissonant harmonies - the phrasing and articulation of "capacity" - so catchy and cool. Those two line are so great. I could listen to what you did with "testify" a day. The bridge is like a lovely little catch of the breath before that cool chorus again - and those stacked vocals are gorgeous. Amazing guitaring throughout. I hope this song was as fun to make as it was to listen to. Awesome collab!!
I can hear why you're pleased with how this came out. How could you not? How could either of you? This thing is scorchy (dang - is this even a word). Anyhoo - I found myself relating in some ways to what's going down in the lyrics and just enjoying the sonic goodness happening with the music and singing. You're in you're element and I can hear you enjoying it as such. I ain't sleeping on ya, Phil - you brought the goods, Chief. The ingredients are well placed and yeah, that ca-ca-ca-capacity is bangin'!
Two of my FAWM favorites coming together! Rawk! That hook is amazeballs. But really all of it is very hooky, loving that guitar riff in the intro as well as the verse melody doubling the riff there. The drum part on the chorus is perfect. As are the guitar tones. Fantastic work you two!
Feel like Iām one of the shindog dancers on āShindig.ā When I read āideas on lyrical themesāI read it as āset some lyrics on flamesā and thought āyep, that sounds about rightā - lol! Totally get a 60s vibe with my gogo boots on! Awesome!
Testifyyyyyyyyy! This is so cool. What a blast it must have been to record.
