Keep Shouting

Liner Notes

ZeCoop: I saw Helen in the Slack chat talking about songs for her awesome punk band and thought - Yeah! I should write a fast, loud, short song and see if she likes it. Well, I liked it well enough to go straight into writing a second one! So much fun!! Here's the first and it fits right into how my brain is firing these days. "Don't let the bastards grind you down" Keep shouting and let them know that we aren't going away! Thanks for being amazing Helen!

I used my Agile and Epiphone Les Pauls (on either side) into my Hudsonics amp that DragonDreams built for me. Also, my Fender Jazz bass and my Ludwig drums

Lyrics

I never believed when I was told That I should be seen and never heard That wasn't something that I could adhere to

And when I raise this voice of mine They tell me that's not ladylike But that isn't something that I could aspire to

So I take pride in my own self And know that my difference is my strength There's no ingenuity in paint by numbers

But some people always deny change Want everything to stay the same If they're comfortable they don't care who they're screwing

They want to keep us quiet They want to wear us down Don't let them snuff out that fire We've got to keep shouting loud

So don't let the bastards grind you down Don't let them make you feel alone There's always other folks that you can turn to

'Cause we can't do much just on our own But side by side we can be strong And face up to anything they can throw at us

They want to keep us quiet They want to wear us down Don't let them snuff out that fire We've got to keep shouting loud

Oh I love it to hear some honest and direct punk rock. Good work on the drums and vocals. This is so dynamic and punchy!

@bijou

This rocks haaard! Love the intensity all around.

I know embarrassingly little about modern punk and riot grrl post-mid 2ks but I enjoyed this righteous cathartic blast. Fantastic energy, melodic as hell and just really fun to listen to you both.

Shouty-pop-punktastic! Perfect match of lyric and music. Love it!

Holy Joan Jett! Wow, this one moves like a freight train. Absolutely nails a 80s melodic punk rock vibe, from that bouncing bass line to the driving guitars. And those vocals! A perfect fit for the lyrics and so polished and raw at the same time. Wow to all of this.

Oh, sweet. The lyrical rhythm complements the rocking guitars so well. Great vocal overall!

oh wow very cool, very The Jam. Weller eat your heart out! and Zecoop knows my history with him. reminds me of in the City but with better words. I'm hooked bring on number 2. can it be a down in the tube station vibe.

So melodic for punk music, and yet still punk as hell. Rockin good stuff. Love the vocal! And that track. Rockin good stuff.

I'm headbanging in the kitchen and the dogs are looking at me funny. This is ticking the boxes!!! We've got to keep shouting loud indeed!!!!

Love the second verse going higher register - the vocals sound great, especially on the chorus. Great message, the bass sounds great in the chorus when it slides off to the higher notes too. Infectious stuff!

Awesome. This makes me miss one of the venues here that had a lot of local punk bands. Lots of great times going to see shows there (fletcher’s) in Baltimore. They used to even run a local Radio show there that would feature the bands on the local rock station. This rules.

If you snuck this into a classic punk playlist of mine, I wouldn't bat an eye. Love the shimmery guitars, vocals are excellent, bass is angry and gurgling along, everything is present and correct. Excellent stuff.
