New Gymnopedie 1

by @orfeodream

Liner Notes

#piano #classical #chill #minimalism #satie In 1888 Erik Satie wrote Trois Gymnopédies. I have. been a fan of the Satie approach and aesthetic all my life. So, for FAWM 2025, I decided to write a kind of Satie fan fiction. I present you with a fourth Gymnopedie for your listening pleasure. You'll be glad to know that no umbrellas were harmed in the making of this music.

Great! I did a nod an a wink for Satie too on my song "Music For Free Falling Elevators" (2:30->) Your was far more on the nose though. Well done!

I've never thought about musical fan fiction but I thoroughly enjoy the references you make to the piece while making it completely your on, a homage, a conversation, an inspiration. Very dreamy and impressionistic as the ones made by him

This is a beautiful, drifting piece. Feels like a peaceful, warm, grey day. Thanks for the atmosphere!

Oh, I love this. It's the night time over here, our guests have just left, my partner has gone to bed and I'm sipping the last beer downstairs by myself listening to this. Perfection.

I like the sequel ! There's the delicacy, the dreaminess and the exotism of Satie's pieces. Also there is the dance : you got the rythm just right. Yet somehow your take is more foggy ? I can picture mist on the a black sea shore. Bravo !

Ooh I’m a big Satie fan also. You have captured the Gymnopedie style in its essence. It could have been written by Erik himself. Bravo! I’m in awe…
