String Musing in A minor (with Betsy Tinney)
by @solcita
Liner Notes
Cello storyteller Betsy Tinney has been my dear friend and musical collaborator since 2003. She taught me how to improvise, which I never would have tried as a classically-trained violinist. Now it's my favorite thing to do and the foundation of one of the bands we're in together (sometimes with Geli Wuerzner, sometimes with Alexander James Adams) called Ménage à Trio.
At Vixy & Tony rehearsal earlier this week, I asked Betsy to record a quick improv with me for my FAWM page. It started out meandering and unstructured, as they usually do, and then settled into a lilting 3/4. I especially love how the ending pattern came together in octave unison. Enjoy!

Ah, how could not love the sound of the two of you playing together? I just closed my eyes and let this drift over me. Lovely. <3
This was fun to listen to. I bet it was a lot of fun to play too.
I always love listening to your improvs (in any combination with other amazing players or solo). This was a beautiful melding of your instruments! - Natalie
This one is as charming as these 2- and 3-part improvisations always are. A nice little summation of the joy of music!
Lovely and engaging. Very relaxing and easy on the ear.
