Pages of History

Liner Notes

Once again, I'm using acoustic guitar as a therapist - I gotta say I like my therapists a lot! 😉 Last night, I did something I almost never do - I retuned my 6 string to an alternate tuning, DADGAD in this case. I came up with a cool sliding riff (that turned into the chorus) and built a song from there.

I wanted to add some more, so I also decided to retune my acoustic 12 string to DADGAD - not that fun, I must say! Once I got to the last string, many of the first strings were once again out of tune. It took a while, but it was worth it. I even filmed myself playing this song on the 12 string (link below). 😃

So here you go - let the many pages of history that we've experienced and learned over time sink in and try not to forget any of the really important lessons.
You know... like Nazis and Fascists really suck.

The studio demo is up there. ☝ The rough one take video of me playing this on 12 string is down there. 👇

I love the sound of the two guitars together! Worth the effort 😀 The percussion adds a lot - I listened a few times to pick out the different parts.

Eric's resonator is open Dm - DADFAD. I was surprised it was not DADGAD, but I was afraid I was going to break the string tuning up to G, and I like minor anyway. Fun watching you play in the video! Love the little slide part.

I really like the bounce in this track, and the little riff. It's incredibly listenable...

This sounds great! Huge wide open chords. Those open string suspensions are so lush. It has Zeppelin vibes but is also somehow much more peaceful. Also your sentiment is super timely. I to am suffering from the same need for music therapy.

Ah mate i really do adore your acoustic sound creations. They sound so full and i get you with the DADGAD. I been experimenting myself, but finding it odd at time not knowing where to move to ;-) . Back to the song. I love the almost drone like feel which seems to reflect to me a constant (the world/humans) and then all the beautiful acoustic interchanges over the top representing all the magic differences in human life. Thats how it should flow. Hopefully the pages of history will be read deeper by everyone this year

Let's hope for enough people reading those pages before the books get banned. Lovely sound! I know the pain to retune that many strings...

oh tune retune. drives me crazy. kudos for hanging in there and getting this. I had Visions of Greg Lake in this one! has that regal feel!

Yes! Love this therapy. I might need more therapy after trying to retune a 12 string to DADGAD. 😉 but this sound is worth it. (Fun to see the video too!)

I like your therapist. And yeah you are absolutely right about important lessons in history. It just seems some of us sadly forgot them and here we are. But as long as we've got people to keep the hope alive and not give in we've got a chance.
