What If?

Liner Notes
Well, this looks like my last (we are aiming for Maine early tomorrow, and today's going to get busy soon..) I'll still be around to listen until we go dark..but no more songs.
This one is, by no means finished..but, I did want to get it uploaded before the end.
Just musing on current events, I guess
Lyrics
What If What if, you woke one morning to find People that you love were left behind Not for anything they may have done Because, they didn't look or act, like everyone What if you woke this morning to find...?
What if, you woke one morning to see The country you loved, had ceased to be The shining city, on the hill, was gone And, know you were never going to feel that you belonged. What if you woke this morning to see...
Hyperbole, I hope, I'm leaning on you But the things I see each day, and know to be true Make me feel it's all burning down, and there's not a lot I can do Hyperbole... Lord, I hope I'm leaning on you
What if, you woke this morning to find People that you love were left behind

I like the (almost spoken) ease to the singing style - it feels almost like an acceptance of the woe that's going on. I can picture this with some sweeping orchestral string sounds drifting around in the background.
I was struck right away by the way your voice cracks a little in the word Find and so much emotion comes pouring through that crack. Again and again your delivery lends specific weight to the lyric. The HEAVYness of THIS morning is another example.
β But the things I see each day, and know to be true Make me feel it's all burning down, and there's not a lot I can doβ Thatβs exactly how i feel! Very good lyrics!
every morning since kennedy was killed, i have awoken to this kind of world. finally, in 2012, i left the country. twelve years later, i am back,, and nearly everyone i knew is gone.
A sad note to go out on, but I guess that's just the current state of affairs, which you put into words pretty aptly. Here's my final applause for your FAWM 2025 then. ππππ
wow big Johnny Cash vibes... especially the last lines of the verses. Yep, very fitting song to the current state of the world.
