Untying Knots (Collab with @leepat)

Liner Notes
#electronic #dark #samples #heavy guatecoop: @leepat and I have done extremely cool collabs for the past 3 or 4 years and this one is also just fabulous. It is very dark and captivating in a very human way. I was completely engrossed in his words and vocals while mixing. Thank you so much Lee--you never deliver what I expect and I am always completely floored by what you do. I played: KO Pocket Operator-33 with samples of piano and ride cymbal, Tiesco bass, and a MicroKorg
leepat: @guatecoop‘s music never fails to inspire and this was an unusual number that struck a chord. check out the original liner notes if you are looking for clues. I didn’t have time for anything other than some croaking, but it weirdly fit the bill… to an extent. thanks Rob for having me on!
Lyrics
This is a tangled mess The signs of stress These misshaped lumps
Confess and I’ll confess Why lie, it’s only dying Look at the vultures vying For proteins
This mind like curdled milk this skin like crumpled silk These entrails
In a knot These thoughts They need untying
The camera begs the question Is this a set up Or is it what it is
Some balk at chores Some lack the patience Some just don’t understand
Who is the architect, the mastermind Or is it all haphazard pantomime
These thoughts These knots They need untying
These strings These laces Why lie It’s only dying It’s only trying The vultures vying Screwed up faces
Are you the actor, the director Or a laggard Caught in a blur Just when exiting the frame
Are you a humble servant Or a braggart Erased by duty Spurred by fame
These knots These thoughts They need untying
These strings These laces These crooked spaces These screwed up faces

Great backing and love the flow and sound of the words intertwining with the swirl of music. Yes. 👏🎶
The spoken vocal delivery works perfectly. Cool lyrics. The bass is incredible. That and the drums/percussion are captivating. Just love that bass...A very unique and enjoyable listening experience. Wonderful collab!
OOO ya!!! this is like one of those classic lost experimental B sides from a top notch band of years gone by. I love the poetic lyrics over the top and of course Rob's variety around the movement of chords whilst still holding a superb structure really fits the bill. Top work guys
Siiiiick! The relaxed spoken word approach works so well over the lo-fi jazzy undergarment. That bass steals the show for me, being the main melodic instrument is real cool. Love all the lyrics, very obscure but always poetic and captivating.
I had to come and see how the collab turned out. I really like the spoken word approach. I think it fits so well! Awesome!
whoah what is my head doing. it is bobbing with about 3 different grooves. bobbedy bob! this grooves big time and sounds so punchy and solid. that bass is the star to me... but it is all so good. sooooo good. the spoken word is entrancing. wow brilliant collab!
Oof I feel this one! Yes, love the mood and the poetry against the synths!
This is awesome. I listened to the instrumental a few moments ago, and these lyrics are a perfect fit. Love the “exiting the frame” line and generally how evocative the lyrics are. Killer solo bass line in the bridge/chorus (not sure how you’re categorizing each section) - so tasty!
Ooo, interesting piece. I love all the variety in the music and this quirky, tense lyric. Creative, unique, and wonderful.
This is absolutely excellent. Like, I can't talk about what I wan't completely without picking out all the elements one by one, but the ones on the top of my mind are the synths and bass right now - they feel absolutely perfect.
Oh wow! I heard the original the other day, was excited to hear this again so I could hear that cool “searchlight doing a 360” effect of the high tone. love this addition of vocals - adds to the darkness and brood!
I didn't know what to expect when I hit play on this tune, but I absolutely love the spoken word delivery against such a hypnotic electro-jazz track. Fantastic lyrics and imagery with a lot to chew on, and I love how @leepat incorporated ideas from @guatecoop's original liner notes. Great collaboration!
