Skirmish: The Finish Line (@robinleaf)Liner Notes
Wow! This was fun! A simple set of lyrics. Add a basic drum click track. Wee bit of bass. A ukulele. Some singing. And BAM! A silly little song fully produced and posted in 56 minutes! I LOVE skirmishes!

our story began in Kentucky we met at the old county fair your blue eyes met mine and I thought you were fine with your hourglass and flowing blonde hair
we rode on the roller coaster threw up on the Tilt-A-Whirl ate elephant ears drank too much beer and I thought that you were my girl
I'm finished I'm through I've had all I can stand of your antics and you I'm finished I'm done I was obviously wrong in thinking you were the one
life with you was never easy you treated me very unkind you cheated with men then you did it again you totally messed up my mind
I'm finished I'm through I've had all I can stand of your antics and you I'm finished I'm done I was obviously wrong in thinking you were the one
I've tried so hard to leave you I tried to push you away but you always resist and you claim you'll be missed but you finally drove me away
I'm finished I'm through I've had all I can stand of your antics and you I'm finished I'm done I was obviously wrong in thinking you were the one

Particularly like the timing and your word play. I think I always try to get through my songs quickly, but slowing down and timing evidently makes a better song. Something I have worked on this year.
one of my fav back tracking with bass and uke. it sits for a good story which this is!' nice one
A fantastic story that runs through this, even if it ultimately ends up with no happy-ever-after.
Great uke and bass.
Love all those details in the first two verses, you paint a purdy little picture there. Sad to hear this couple didn't have a fairy tale ending. Your folky/twangy delivery and style are perfect for this. "Tilt-a-Whirl" and "girl" - laughed out loud at that one. Congrats!
Outstanding skirmish!! It's just amazing this was done in less than an hour. I love the combo of instruments...sparse and clean yet perfect for the lyrics, which are so cleverly assembled!! Multiple "classic" lines... like the tilt-a whirl line!! I think I threw up in one of those once myself!! Or was it the octopus?? probably both!! Your vocals on this tune are fantastic!! indeed another beautiful instrument weaved right into this excellent musical tapestry. Take a bow!!
Lovely song. Great switch up from the nostalgic verse to the chorus! Lyrically it's spot on. Good story, good mood, and you've nailed your rhythm and rhyme all the way through. Fantastic. Especially for a skirmish and done in an hour. Well done.
I love all these different takes of being finished, this one is great too. Particularly love the threw up on the Tilt-a-whirl verse, and that I'm finished, I'm done chorus is just great.
Good telling of a tale of love and betrayal. A gem: "you cheated with men/then did it again/you totally messed up my mind." That behavior would seem to clarify things. I love all the instruments and your vocal, too.
Nice take on the prompt! Sounds amazing for a skirmish. I like the melody in the chorus, works really well.
Wonderful lyrics and vocals! This is so polished for a 56 minute turnaround, and quite catchy too :)
This is so catchy, easy, and I love it so much!Great performance!!
This has such a lovely sunny vibe, and I am totally into this kind of storytelling, it manages to be interesting, witty and moving all in one. This prompt certainly agreed with you - splendid production too 😃
I can't believe you got this together in the hour! Really sweet vibes, I love this interpretation!!!!
I am flabbergasted that you got this done in an hour! Like, all of these instruments! I have enough trouble not tripping over my words or playing the wrong chords. 😅 Anyway, this is delightful! It's kind of a cute sounding song even though it's a breakup song. I especially love the line about the Tilt-A-Whirl - that is an awesomely fresh rhyme for "girl." This is so catchy.
