Skirmish: The Finish Line (@robinleaf)

Liner Notes

The Nordic World Ski Championships is held from 26 February to 9 March 2025 in Trondheim, Norway. Unfortunately, this is my hometown. There's even an official anthem (Gunnhild Sundli sings it, and she's great! Check it out) for this silly event. I wrote the lyrics in ten minutes, and made a beat in 20. Mixing took an additional 10.

I've never understood people who live vicariously through athletes.

Sarcasm? Yes, definitely, just look at the lyrics. I just wanted to show how easy it is. ;)

Wanna sing it, Gunnhild?

Lyrics

Although it’s cold and the snow keeps falling A fire inside’s burning bright in my chest The crowd is cheering, and winter’s calling It’s time to show that I’m the best

Everyone needs a hero And I’m the one I’m the one Count me down to zero You're looking at a champion A champion Cold as ice Fierce but nice I’ll beat ‘em twice Watch me shine And take what’s mine When I cross… The finish line The finish line

Hard times don’t matter, I’ll keep you entertained I’ll make you forget your worries and pains Eyes on the prize with unwavering grace We’re in this together, we’ll win this race

(Chorus)

Pushing right through the pain Through snow or through rain

(Chorus)

Holy smokes this is way too good to take a hour. The vocals are absolutely insane!! This production is huge and sounds professionally mastered.

This has a very contemporary vibe to it. I like how it builds from that simple synth and drums opening, and the mix really supports the excellent vocals. Count me down to zero - I'm looking at a champion!

What a good song to whip out in an hour! Or less really...the whole finish line hook is good and catchy, and I like the whole everyone needs a hero and I'm the one. Eyes on the prize with unwavering grace is a good line too. I met some people from Trondheim once, on the ferry from sweden to Copenhagen, and then they took me to Roskilde and we partied for a week. They were awesome. I've always imagined that everybody is like them in trondheim.
