Liner Notes

In the midst of trying to cross the finish line we selected this song as the most probable candidate to get finished before the deadline. And this is a rare year in which we managed to record 14 songs in the month. Of course, the spreadsheet still has another 14 or so songs that may never be completed but they will patiently wait until we have some more time and energy.

We came up with a bunch of random three syllable words to fill the rising melody section, attempting to randomise the selections and make them unconnected to each other.

Some lines work better than others, have we reached a new low with the “celebrating life with my best friend” line? Quite possibly, but “today is hungry for me” is a nice and positive sentiment so maybe it makes up for the schmaltz.

The music is going for a rough, garage rock type feel with raw recordings for all instruments. The intent for the verse was to harmonise around the G chord and I think we can further work on this to fully realise the vision. Two separate vocal lines in the verse that join together in the pre-chorus to be as one in the chorus - a joyous union (well, that's the dream). For now it’s a sketch in the on-going notebook of hope.

Oh, right away those random words start taking me back to other songs....Triangle Man by They Might Be Giants, A Bicycle Built for Two, and who knows maybe some SpongeBob pineapple thing. It becomes this song about listening to sunny music and being in love. Dang. I just like this song so much...I think I'll be humming this all weekend dancing in the stands at my daughter's swimmeet. Amazing FAWM! Great work.

What an infectious organ/keys part that drives the beginning! Hooked immediately and glad to have listened through this. Great voice, as well as I like the chord progressions and voicing a lot. Good stuff!

That's the 80s-est chorus I've heard in a long time (I mean that in the best way possible). Hard agree that "today is hungry for me" is a great line. I like the random trios - feels like glimpses into the relationship, and besides, love doesn't always (or have to) make sense.

I really like the random three syllable words and the layered vocals it seems to work well. I would like some acrobatic loving in my life please and thank you. What's the sample in the middle? It kind of sets a tone for the song. It's like you feel like you should be in love but you aren't totally convinced, or your trying to convince youself? Not sure if that makes sense. Enjoyed the upbeat, poppy vibes and even the celebrating life with my best friend line 😂
