The world might be terrible but people are still cool.
Lyrics
It’s so dark outside I can barely see But I’m not gonna let The darkness get me Because no matter what I’ve always understood That people are mostly good
People hold the door for you And push your car Give you a hand if they can That’s just how people are If there’s a way to help Almost anybody would Because people are mostly good
Strangers pay a compliment That brightens someone’s day A stranger’s just a future friend Maybe that’s a cliché But any way you slice it Down here in my neighborhood People are mostly good

Beautiful song and so very uplifting, you have a lovely voice and delivery... Ah, I just heard the ooooohhhs at the bridge... wonderful.. thank you so much. Pearse
Hard but important to remember in those times when hatred is everywhere on the news. The optimism of the message and of the uplifting beat is a sunshine !
I love, love, love this! It sounds beautiful. I’ve had a similar lyrical theme rattling around in my head, so it was amazing to happen across this and hear it done so well.
This sounds so great it makes me want to go buy a baritone uke! Great message, necessary today more than ever. Really touching interlude.
this is a lovely, sweet song, delicately delivered
the two closing lines are on point, and must be a message you send out to your elementary school students on a daily basis - keep fighting the good fight
A message we have to believe, even when evil seems to have the upper hand. Baritone sounds very nice-I used mine for the month as well (a new toy!). Your voice always sounds great.
MARCH Listening - because lets face it, i could have spent all Feb just listening to you incredible output!! Love the Bari use - i might have to get myself one of them. There is a great message in this and the repeated refrain line kicks it home. And i love a gorgeous ooooooh section.
Great song, as usual, and wonderful message! I mostly believe it (especially in my neighborhood, too). But what I do wholeheartedly believe is that you have had a fantastic FAWM, and this is just one more stellar entry!
Sounds great hearing your singing, as I haven't stopped by your page yet; awesome vocals as always. And also as always, the voice+uke combo just sounds perfect when you do it.
Also the perfect setup for these lyrics and message. I try my best to hold onto the thought that people are mostly good, too.
Your lyrics here are not complicated, and there aren't a lot of words written...but it 100% drives home the thought of the song. I really like lyrics like that and the simple voice+uke, like I said before, is perfect to carry that message.
"Down here in my neighborhood" got me off on a daydreaming tangent - thinking back to my old childhood neighborhood. As rough as it was...I can still apply this song's statement to it, too. It was nice to think back on that place while listening and having the memories linger afterwards. Good songs can take the mind elsewhere, like yours did.
I love this song and message. Looking around my own neighbourhood, I agree. Something to hold onto in this chaotic time.
Lov (and agree) with your sentiment. Rhythm of the uke is great for moving this along. "People are mostly good" - a simple yet brilliant way of putting it. Voice is stellar and angelic in this.
Love this message and outlook! Love hearing songs about positivity and you nailed it here with “people are mostly good”. Pretty voice!!
The only way that society can really function is if people treat each other with kindness -- thanks for being a light in the darkness! Also, pretty song!
I really love the positive sentiment and the hope you share! Lovely strum pattern and gorgeous melody and vocal delivery! Beautiful song and I’m glad I found it before FAWM ends!
