It Was A Different Time
Liner Notes
When I was a kid, I had a yellow bike with a banana seat and a flag. I'd ride it to the only place in town that had arcade machines and play Ms. Pac-Man and Ghosts 'n Goblins. I also made sure to get a Tasty-Freeze or a Creamsicle while there. Trekking to and fro was not just a trip from point A to B; it was an adventure, jumping curbs, trying to master wheelies, and finding a series of shortcuts. I may or may not have had a squirt gun, just in case. If I wasn't home before dark, though, Mom wasn't having any of it.

Lyrics
when i stopped at the mom and pop shoppe and my mind would freeze from the ice cream i’d toss a quarter in the video game machine and i’d write my name for the high score i pushed my cousins name down the line and you better believe it was a good time it was mine all mine and I'll be home before my dinner time or there’ll be hell to pay and I wouldn't be comin' back again
it was a different time it was a different time
i had to get back home before the street lights glowed i didn’t have a phone and i was all alone!
it was a different time (it almost seems like a crime) it was a different time
i had to get back home before the street lights glowed (it almost seems like a crime) i didn’t have a phone and i was all alone!

I was so excited to listen to this song after hearing about your adventures on the bike with a banana seat. My banana seat was sparkly purple. But about the actual song - man, LOVE your chorus, it really captures those days. And so catchy and such a great groove. Thanks SO much for bringing me along for the ride!
oh now THAT'S the good stuff. love the chromatic guitar riff - i missed this era myself but the way your lyrics illustrate it paint a picture vivid as day in my mind. love the instrumentation and production, it's very jumpy but in a way that benefits the song a lot. i dig it!
Reminders from our youth! You echo that with every line. I like the style and manner in which you do it too. Nice guitar and vocal work!
I really like the sense of adventure; all the different sounds and progressions do a great job of capturing that youthful sense of exploring a new, opening world. There's a delightful sense of nostalgia and of distant (but still very present) memories bubbling to the surface.
This is real good stuff, nice work! The vibes are perfect & the vocals are great. Looking forward to seeing what else you do!
so crunchy! i love how it feels like the relatively strightforward backbone of the song keeps playing through while still having distinct textures in different sections. a different time indeed. nice way to get off the blocks!
Nice vocal layers, like the way that they intertwine with the gutsy pulse of the guitar sound
This is sick! I can picture all of this. I love the cousin line, this is groovy and I love it. Nice!
This track is such a nostalgic trip! The production gives it this dreamy yet electric energy that perfectly complements the lyrics—feels like stepping into a time capsule
@angelinapowersuit - Sparkly purple FTW! Can anyone here beat sparkly purple? hmmm? anyone? Bueller?
